Second Nature

Yesterday really felt like a landmark for second nature, there was one point in the day where l looked around at all the children playing and the adults conversing, We were at the heart of the community and surrounded by the market gardens that nourished it, I took a minute to myself and saw the vision that Chi had wanted to create by growing a community around her project.

After the session one of the residents came up to me and said, “ today was so beautiful, Chi would have been so proud” Tbh I started to cry because I knew it was true, this was her vision manifested and I want to thank all the parents and people along the way that continue to make this a reality. This is just the start of what Chi envisioned for second nature and it is with great honor that we get to see it grow.

Second nature is opening up again at our new venue on the beautiful land , Ashcott.

Not only can the little ones get their hands in the soil here on the farm, but there will be a mud kitchen, anji play, areas of interest for them to create their own activities and 22 acres for them to run free.

We also have a teepee as an indoor space set up (incase it rains,..come on July!!! 😑😅) as a reading nook and for block play etc.

The session is on Fridays from 10am-2pm and is 0-14 but primarily aimed at ages 3-9,…although we have seen from our other session ‘Learning Freely’ which is 0-14 that the older kids love to get involved with farm activities as well as engaging with their younger peers. The session is for parents to stay and is £10 per child and siblings 0-3 are Free!.

We still have slots available for our Wednesday Sessions, for those that are interested. If you’ve never experienced what Play Based Learning is all about.. then do come and check us out! ☺️

There are little aspects of Forest School.. however, we do a different approach to providing childrens‘ learning. Every session, we set up areas of interest for the children to do self-chosen activities, one of which is Process Art. Art activities that is all about the process and not so much about the end result/product. Children then get to experience the benefits of problem-solving skills to emotional regulation, while also learning about math & science.. all at the same time!

Besides our Wednesday Sessions, we will also be opening up a few Saturday Sessions in the near future! So stay tuned for that and do give us a follow for any new updates. 🌱❤️

Who’s ready for some PLAY?!

Starting the new year afresh, we will begin our weekly Nature Play Based Sessions.. Four whole hours for your child to unleash their inner explorer and immerse themselves in the art of authentic Free Play!

We understand that every family is unique, and thus, offer the choice to stay & learn along side with your child.. OR to drop off ( when your child is ready 😉) so that you can have some well-deserved chill time, and your child gets to engage deeper into their Play flow!
