Often when we have been through something traumatic in our life we distract ourselves by keeping overly busy so we don’t have time to slow down, to stop and to think. We would rather be busy than sitting with our thoughts, feelings and replaying the traumatic event. This distraction can hamper the healing journey, and cause issues with our wellbeing.
Yes, it is good to keep a little active and do everyday things, but it is also important to have time for yourself to process what happened and allow the feelings to surface so you can heal, bottling emotions up over time can lead to physical illness or even burn out.
If you have been feeling this way, make time every day for you, and find things that bring you comfort, be that a walk in a park, something creative, or just a pampering bath.
