I ran into this little explanation from 3 years ago and felt to share again...
Just a building block in my view of the the universe, the magical realms and our place in the world...
WHO ARE THE FAE?
OR
LAYERS OF THE LAND
Lots has been written about these human-like luminous magical beings, who were known as the Gentle Folk, the Sidhe, the Tylwyth Teg, the Elven Ones, but I want to talk about what I learned about them from my work with them for the last 20 years.
I feel the Land in different frequencies. The physical layer is where energy is dense enough that it becomes what we call "matter". That is where our physical bodies exist along with the physical bodies of Trees Plants Animals and Rock Beings. However - there are more frequencies to the land.
The faery frequency is part of what I call the Magical Layer. It exists above and to the side of the physical layer - so both lighter - less dense, and in a parallel space to where our physical bodies exist. This is why I don't try to "see" Faery Beings in the physical world, but rather sense them with my inner senses. To me they feel like human-size, graceful, luminous and slightly transparent Beings, a little like Tolkien's Elves.
It is often said that faeries love to dance and sing and are very beautiful, and in my experience the Fae do indeed deal with beauty, but on a deeper, more profound level - they are responsible for the Beauty - the Harmony - of the land. Many times a faery court is in charge of the harmony, collaboration and vitality in a specific part of the Land. They navigate and direct the magical energy currents in their realm, to create the right patterns of growth, the cycles of growth and decay and the right relations between all the living beings and the magical beings in their realm,. All that in turn effects the health and stability of the physical eco-system that we can see.
Sometimes there are several courts in the same area who host slightly different Faery Beings, who have different roles and deal with different parts of the land.
Like in every eco-system, there needs to be an alignment between different parts to create a functioning whole. I see it as a symphony with many different instruments, and this is why it is essential for me to listen to the other Beings of the land before adding the Human part, but at the same time, as the Fae have told me again and again - the symphony is not complete without us.
