**Overthinking every word before you speak?**

You’re not alone.

A lot of people don’t hate public speaking because they have nothing to say.

They hate it because the second they stand up, their brain starts doing this:

What if I lose my place?
What if I speak too fast?
What if I go blank?
What if everyone thinks I’m terrible?

Helpful. Thanks, brain.

Our **Fearless Public Speaking** course with **Jake Norton** is designed to help you feel calmer, clearer and more in control when you need to speak in front of people.

You’ll work on confidence, managing nerves, voice, body language, storytelling, structure, and speaking with more impact.

Not fake confidence.
Not corporate waffle.
Practical tools that actually help.

Perfect for presentations, meetings, interviews, pitches, speeches, or anyone who wants to stop dreading the moment all eyes are on them.

**Fearless Public Speaking**
**5-week course**
**Tuesdays from 7th July**
**6.30pm–8.30pm**
**ACS, Govan, Glasgow**
**£175**

Denzel Washington is the GOAT.

We’ll happily argue about actors all day, but for us, Denzel is right up there at the very top.

And this quote nails something every aspiring actor needs to hear:

“Dreams without goals are just dreams.”

Wanting to be an actor is lovely.

But wanting isn’t a plan.

At some point, you need structure.
You need training.
You need discipline.
You need people around you who will challenge you, support you, and help you grow.

That’s what our full-time courses are built for.

HNC Foundation Acting
HND Acting & Performance
1-Year Professional Diploma

Three serious routes for actors who are ready to stop just dreaming about it and start building towards it.

Talent matters.
Passion matters.
But goals turn the dream into action.

Train. Grow. Prepare for the profession.

Nerves on camera?

Good. That means you care.

But if every self-tape, screen class or close-up makes your brain start screaming, it’s very hard to do your best work.

You start watching yourself from the outside.

Is my face weird?
Am I doing too much?
Am I doing nothing?
Where do I look?
Why do my hands suddenly belong to someone else?

Helpful. Very helpful.

Secrets of Screen Acting Stage 2 with Fiona Geddes is designed to help actors feel more confident, more castable, and more in control on camera.

This course is not about fancy lighting or buying more self-tape kit.

It’s about the acting.

You’ll work on interpreting sides, making stronger choices, understanding your casting, sharpening your screen presence, and bringing more of yourself to the scene.

Less panic.
More clarity.
Better choices.

Some acting advice sounds deep.

Some of it sounds mystical.

Some of it sounds like it was written on a candle by someone wearing linen.

And then there’s Paul Rudd:

“Show up on time. Respect other people’s time. Don’t be a dickhead.”

Honestly? Hard to beat.

Because talent matters, obviously.

But if you’re late, lazy, rude, difficult, entitled, unprepared, or make every room harder than it needs to be, people remember that too.

The industry is small.

Reputation travels.

And no amount of “but I’m really passionate” makes up for being a nightmare to work with.

At ACS, we train actors to do the work properly — but also to understand the room they’re walking into.

Be talented.

Be prepared.

Be respectful.

Be someone people actually want to work with.

Harsh or fair?

WE’RE GOING TO THE FRINGE.

We are very excited to announce Sisters of the Seas — a brand-new devised show from Acting Coach Scotland, coming to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026.

Pirates. Chaos. Sisterhood. Sea air. Probably some questionable decision-making.

Rehearsals start in less than a month, and we cannot wait to get this one into the room.

The show will be created through a devised rehearsal process with our full-time acting students, guided by Jake Norton, who will then write the final script and direct the production.

So yes, Jake is very much captaining this particular ship.

A full run at the Edinburgh Fringe is a massive challenge, a brilliant adventure, and one of the biggest opportunities our students get during their time with us.

Because actors learn by doing.

They learn by rehearsing.
They learn by performing.
They learn by creating from scratch.
They learn by dealing with audiences, pressure, timing, nerves, teamwork, and the glorious madness of putting on a show at the Fringe.

We’re ridiculously proud of them already, and very excited to see what Jake and the cast create together.

“I just want to tell this fantastic story as truthfully and as honestly as I can.” — David Tennant

That’s it.

That’s the job.

Not to look impressive.
Not to show everyone how emotional you can be.
Not to pull faces, force feelings, or “act” all over the place.

Tell the story.

Truthfully.
Honestly.
Clearly.
With the other actor.
In the moment.

At ACS, that’s what we train.

We’re not interested in vague drama-school waffle or mysterious actor nonsense. We want actors who can understand the scene, make clear choices, listen properly, and tell the truth of the work.

Because great acting is not about proving you’re talented.

It’s about serving the story.

Train honestly. Work clearly. Tell the story.

**Mind goes blank when all eyes are on you?**

You know what you want to say.

Then suddenly…

Dry mouth.
Racing heart.
Nerves taking over.
Words disappearing into the void.

Brilliant. Very helpful, brain. Thanks for that.

This feels very close to the heart of what we believe at ACS.

The more authentic and honest you are in your relationship with the world, the more chance you have of doing work that genuinely touches other people.

That applies to acting, but it also applies to life.

A lot of weak acting comes from actors trying to present something: trying to seem emotional, interesting, intense, confident, or “good”. But audiences are not moved by that for long. What reaches people is truth. Real thought. Real feeling. Real humanity. Real presence.

If you mean it, there is every chance it will mean something to somebody else.

That is why acting training, at its best, is not just about technique. It is about becoming more honest, more open, more resilient, and more in touch with yourself and with other people.

That is the work. And that is the point.

A little reminder for actors:

Being talented is great.

Being talented and unbearable?
Less useful.

Paul Mescal is right:

“It doesn’t matter how talented you are; if you’re not a nice person, people aren’t going to want to work with you.”

Acting is not a solo mission.
It’s collaboration.
It’s trust.
It’s relationships.
It’s the room.

At ACS, we believe in craft, discipline, and professionalism — but also basic decency.

Because no one wants to cast a nightmare.

Be good at the work. Be good in the room.
