It’s been a week since the opening of Kultur Ensemble Glasgow, and we’re still thinking about it.
An unforgettable day and evening filled with memorable moments, bringing people together through music, conversation, and shared experiences.
The official opening ceremony and speeches marked a meaningful beginning for Kultur Ensemble, setting the tone for what our new space stands for.
From the captivating concerts by Sonia Killmann and Alexandra Gruebler to the DJ set by James Iball, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this opening so special! We’re excited for what’s to come.

On 3 June, we officially launched Kultur Ensemble Glasgow, a cooperation between Alliance Française Glasgow, Goethe-Institut Glasgow and Institut français d'Ecosse. As one of only 8 locations worldwide, Kultur Ensemble Glasgow creates both a space for exchange and collaboration at the joint venue at Park Circus, and an opportunity for cultural cooperation across Scotland, strengthening European connections worldwide.
The programme included a day full of illustration workshops and live drawing with pupils from Gallowhill Primary School in Paisley and Hillhead Primary School in Glasgow with renowned German illustrator Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo) and Scotland-based French illustrator Marie-Alice Harel, as well as a formal evening celebration including representatives of the fields of culture, education, and politics. The partnership was celebrated by all three directors watering a plum tree, to be planted in the garden, symbolising the partners’ commitment to long-term collaboration and fruitful cooperation.
A key highlight of the event were the concerts by Sonia Killmann and Alexandra Gruebler, followed by a set by DJ James Iball doing justice to Glasgow's UNESCO City of Music status with their performances.
We would like to thank all our partners, visitors, and friends who joined us in celebrating this special occasion and we’re looking forward to Kultur Ensemble taking roots and growing in Scotland!
