Thanks to the team at STV News for coming to hear from young people Kebba & Billie about what it means to have free sport sessions and trusted youth workers embedded in their communities and how these funds make a real difference to young people facing real challenges. SSF is one of 51 organisations receiving funding from CashBack for Communities. This funding comes via the proceeds of crime and is distributed to projects delivering positive futures for young people.

SSF TRAINING MODULES | We recently delivered our SCQF LEVEL 4 Communication module to young people at Basketball Scotland 's Wheelchair Basketball Camp at sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde .

This group of young people had a diverse mix of experience of Wheelchair Basketball and showed great engagement and enthusiasm. It was brilliant to see the creativity that went into the games they developed to demonstrate different communication styles, as well as the amount of peer support and encouragement shown throughout. A huge congratulations to all 21 participants. It was a real privilege to be part of the camp and share the power that communication has in sport to diversify participation and include everyone.

THANK YOU to the amazing team at Weightmans for having us as a Charity Partner for the last two years.

They are an incredibly innovative team coming up with creative and fun ways to raise money from painting & sipping to walking, hiking and baking. CHARITY COMEDY NIGHT | Our hilarious fundraising event returns to Blackfriars of Bell Street this year and tickets are now on sale. Curated by comedy-circuit favourite Chris Forbes this event brings together a range of the funniest stand-ups around, a comedy night not to be missed. All proceeds go to SSF to support our work in bringing sport to young people living in challenging circumstances.

SUMMER GALLERY | It's been an incredible summer of sport at SSF. We've played football, wheelchair basketball, judo, athletics, netball, fencing, volleyball, tennis, multi-sport games, cycled, BMX'd and eaten so much ice cream. Thanks to all the organisations who brought their sports expertise to young people and got involved.

It's so important for young people from every community to access different sports and find out what they enjoy. The benefits go way beyond sport.

Not every young person thrives in a traditional classroom environment. That’s why our Education & Training team works with schools to develop and deliver bespoke programmes, ranging from short-term interventions to longer blocks of learning, using sport and physical activity as an alternative approach to education.

Our programmes provide young people with opportunities to build confidence, develop skills and achieve SCQF-accredited qualifications, all within a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

St Ninian’s High School Case Study
Last term, our 12-week bespoke Education & Training programme supported a group of young people who were identified as benefiting from a different approach to learning. The programme was a huge success, with the group achieving 43 SCQF qualifications and completing 34 SSF Wellbeing Workshops.

Huge thanks to Aiden Moffat from Team Scotland and Zenkai Judo Club 全開 for coming to share judo skills with young people last week. It was amazing to hear from Aiden about his incredible experiences at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Young people were able to try something new and had so much fun learning the values of this martial art and trying out techniques with the experts.
