Big Guitar Weekend - Festivals 30/10/2023

Very excited this week as we gear up for Big Guitar Weekend 2023. There will be Concerts, Masterclasses, Lessons, BGW course and RCS Guitar Competiton.

Our featured artists this year are Sean Shibe, Ian Watt, Samrat Majumder, Sasha Savaloni, Duo Ramelli, Kevin McKenzie. GET YOUR TICKETS (link below)!

We will have guitar makers exhibiting, with guitars on show and available to try. A selection from Sam McClaren, Pete Beer and Ryan Gibson.

Composers Dave Fennessy and Eddie McGuire will be featured. Handwritten scores, Q+As, world premieres are just some of the exciting work that will be on show!

Very excited ahead of tomorrow’s lunchtime concert at RCS showcasing our guitar and harp students. Come and join us at 1pm in the Ledger Recital Room for an eclectic programme of Brouwer, Gismonti, Dowland, Barrios, Mchedelov and traditional music from Scotland and Ireland. Guitar department alumni Ross Morris is performing a lunchtime concert this Saturday with Ines Mayhew-Begg - Soprano. They will be playing a varied programme including Dowland, Purcell and Goss. We are very excited to announce Big Guitar Weekend 2022! We welcome guitarists from all around the world to RCS for a celebration of all things guitar related. Professor Allan Neave has invited a roster of incredible artists including Sean Shibe, Nicholas Goluses and Tim Beattie. There will be concerts every evening, our annual NECGS competition, talks from Steve Goss and Matthew McAllister, an RCS Student Showcase Concert, Masterclasses, Lessons and a Luthier Showcase with a selection of fine instrument to try!

This year at RCS Guitar and Harp we have an exciting programme of events organised. Starting on Monday (31st October) we have our Department Showcase. This is a opportunity to hear some of our new students on the undergraduate and masters programme. The concert will feature works by Albeniz, Dyens, Hindemith, Milano, Piazzolla and Salzedo.

Please come along and support our students as they take to the stage.
