To ALL parents that have a child ready to start the new 1140 funded hours in August.
PLEASE think about what you want for your child at age 3 & 4 years old. Just now most children are used to attending nursery 5 days per week for 3 hours and from August that will double to 6 hours per day!
Did you know you DON’T need to apply for double with the same setting!

You can have MORE Flexibility using your 1140 funded hours, the council state on their web page that they have always offered some flexibility around how hours are used. But with entitlement almost doubling there may be more scope to offer the pattern that works best for you and your child. They are currently in the process of looking at how this will work across council nursery settings.

So some children may attend over 5 school day slots during term time whilst others may have fewer longer sessions each week or the entitlement might be spread throughout the calendar year. They are currently finalising the models and will be able to offer across a range of nursery establishments. They will make the information available on their site as soon as they have it.

You may choose to split your hours across more than one funded provider. So, for example, you may wish your child to remain at a private nursery for some of the time whilst also attending some sessions at your local school nursery. Or perhaps you might have a childminder or want to contact a childminder to see if they have availability for your child full time or split care with a nursery setting. Provided there is availability you will be allowed to split your hours across a maximum of two providers. A list of funded providers will be available with the new application forms coming out soon all you need to do it think before you fill it in what’s best for your child or your working day and look to see what a childminder does and can offer your child as I also work to provide the National curriculum for early years covering

personal, social and emotional development
literacy
mathematics
understanding the world
expressive arts and design
