Our HND Year 1 students have kicked off an exciting live client project today!

They’ll be designing lapel pins to celebrate and recognise the service of City of Glasgow College Board of Management members — inspired by the college’s ethos, “Let Learning Flourish.” 🌿 🕊️🎓📖✍🏼💡

We can’t wait to see their creative ideas come to life! One student’s design will be selected for official production and presented to the Board, while all students will have the chance to manufacture their final designs through to completion.

Also great to see our City of Glasgow College Jewellery alumna, ⭐ Militsa Milenkova Jewellery, featured discussing her award-winning 2022 design.

This inspiring story celebrates over a hundred years of innovation and craftsmanship in cutlery design, culminating in the announcement of the 2025 competition winner, and we’re proud to share that our very own student, Kris Muir, was highly commended for their entry!

Congratulations to everyone involved! A fantastic showcase of creativity, skill, and tradition coming together on the cutting edge!

The Cutting Edge The story of the Contemporary Cutlery Design Competition featuring the 2025 winner - a hundred-year initiative to create the best in cutlery design

Today our students had the opportunity to visit Making a Mark, an inspiring exhibition presented by Lyon & Turnbull celebrating the extraordinary collection of Helen Cargill Thompson, bequeathed to The Glasgow School of Art

The showcase of work highlights the expressive possibilities of silver and metalwork, from sculptural pieces to innovative functional design. Featuring works by renowned makers such as Vicki Ambery-Smith, Rebecca Joselyn, and GSA alumni including Karen Wallace and Andrew Fleming.

It was a brilliant chance for our students to see how craftsmanship, creativity, and contemporary design come together to make their mark in the world of metalwork.

Our Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025 will be held on Monday 24 November at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
