📣 GRIMETHORPE ANNOUNCE NEW SOLO HORN
Grimethorpe Colliery Band are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew McMillan as the band’s new Solo Horn.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Andrew made history as the first musician to graduate with a BMus in Tenor Horn, achieving First Class Honours and receiving the Blair Prize for Excellence in Brass Music. Alongside his performing career, Andrew is an experienced conductor and teacher, and recently appeared as a soloist in Kelli, the acclaimed production by Martin Green.
💬 Andrew said:
“I am incredibly proud to be joining Grimethorpe on Solo Horn. It’s an honour to become part of such an iconic band, and I can’t wait for what lies ahead.”
💬 Musical Director Ben Dixon commented:
“Andrew is a superb addition to the band and one of the most exciting young players in the country. He combines outstanding musicianship with a fantastic attitude, and we’re delighted to welcome him to Grimethorpe. Andrew has a very bright future ahead of him, and we're thrilled that he'll be part of the next chapter of the band's journey.”
Andrew has already made his debut with Grimethorpe at the Nevill Holt Festival last month and will relocate from Scotland to South Yorkshire this summer to take up the role with the band.
