About Me - I am a have been a registered childminder since February 2015. I have achieved Registration from The Care Inspectorate Scotland who has strict registration requirements including ‘fit person’ and ‘fit premises’ checks followed up by annual inspections (details can be found at www.careinspectorate.com). I adhere to a code of conduct from the Scottish Social Services Council (www.sssc.uk.com). I am a member of Scottish Childminding Association who, amongst other things, help keep me up-to-date with new legislation etc. I have been volunteering with the local Youth Forum at St Paul’s Church, Provanmill for a number of years including running the toddlers group and Sunday School. My husband of 16 years and I have two children, a son of 12 years and our daughter is 8. My Service - I am open to welcoming children Term-time, 9am-5pm, Wednesday to Friday, based at my family home. I have a child friendly house; areas of childminding include a living/dining room, play room and enclosed garden. We also take regular outings and make the most of our local area and community. I have a clean full UK driving Licence and a well maintained Car. Car Seats etc will be discussed before starting.

Children in my care will be given time for free-play (when they decide what they want to do), organised activities, attending organised groups, trips to parks, play-parks and other outside activities, meeting and making friends. They will be given options, helping make decisions on what we do and encouraged to make suggestions. Every child will be treated as an individual with their needs, interests & dislikes included in the Personal Learning Plan. Parents/carers will be kept up-to-date with their daily activities etc. I appreciate that as a parent/carer you know your child best and will constantly be looking for you to share information and expertise to assist me to get to know them and care for them better. I will regularly be looking for formal feedback but hope that we can quickly establish relationship built on trust where open and honest communication flows freely. I am a professional and as such respect the privacy and traditions of every family. I will ensure that the needs of one child however, will not negatively impact another, the group or other families. I practice Positive Behaviour Management. This means no child in my care will be physically punished, restrained or humiliated. Bullying is not tolerated. Our House Rules

Admissions – before a child’s Start Date, a number of ‘Settling-In’ visits will take place. Firstly with their parents and then without – the number and length of time will vary with every child so will be discussed and agreed with parents/carers. During this time an Information Sheet will be completed and a contract agreed and signed. Child Protection - I understand that child abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional and neglectful, or a mixture of these. I have completed regular Child Protection training which keeps me up to date with child protection issues and relevant legislation. I will never allow anyone to live in my household that I suspect to be or that has been deemed unfit to be among children by Disclosure Scotland. My husband is the only other person over 16 years in our household and also holds a PVG. Complaints - If there is any aspect of my service you are not happy with please bring it to my attention and I will make every effort to resolve the issue through frank and open discussion. You can put the complaint to me verbally or, if you prefer, formally in writing or by email to [email protected]. In the event of a complaint regarding any part of the childminding service we will do our best to resolve any complaints by communicating directly with the parents using the service. All complaints will be taken seriously and fully investigated within a 28 day period. Written records will be kept of any complaint made, what was done about it and the outcome. This will then be shown to the Care Inspectorate if they ask to see it or at their annual inspection.
