So AIAA Design/Build/Fly 2016 is over. We finished 18th out of 80. Conditions were very challenging with winds of over 30 mph to contend with, but we completed all three missions successfully and we are very proud of achieving a top 20 result. Huge thanks to our ace pilot Wyatt.
A rather successful first day. Sitting in fourth place overall, out of 80 teams! 2 missions complete and the 3rd and final mission will be tackled tomorrow morning.

After a long day of travelling, we finally arrived in Kansas City, Missouri!
Tomorrow we will be picking up the car and driving across to Wichita, Kansas where we will carry out our final preparations for the competition. Thankfully, the box has came out of 3 flights with pretty much zero damage, so hopefully the aircrafts will be fit for flight on Friday!

Today we submitted our final report to the university for marking. The end of the of the project is near!
*Update on aircraft - repairs to the production aircraft are nearly finished, and the manufacturing support aircraft is nearly completed. Test flights will be happening next week at somepoint!*

Today we got handed our jackets and polo shirts from the Royal Air Force. Not long until the competition now!

The production aircraft will soon be taking to the skies for its first test flight!
This aircraft was designed to carry a bottle of gatorade during flight, and is 1 of 2 aircrafts required for the AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition.
Testing the a tail boom mount. 3D printed, weighing in at 0.75g and it held over 15kg!
