Fresher's Fair!
It was so great meeting everyone yesterday! We hope to see you soon! Our come and try is on the 20th in Strath Sport Dance Studio at 7:15. If you can't make that session, no worries, our regular sessions will be focusing on the fundamentals as well! 💪⚔️

Dates and Times!
These are our dates and times for 24/25! We have 3 sessions per week this year!

Our Monday and Friday sessions are suitable for anyone, whether it's your first time doing kendo or your hundredth time.

Our Wednesday morning sessions are more focused at people who have a good grasp of the fundamentals but is a great way to start the day!

Try the way of the sword at our come and try in the Strathclyde Sport Dance Studio from 7:15 - 9:15! We can't wait to see you there!

If you can't come, no stress! Our Monday and Friday sessions will be covering similar content so you won't miss out!

⚠️ attention all strathy kendoka! ⚠️ it has been announced that there will be a seminar and grading weekend on the 30th-31st March! this is an amazing opportunity for both beginners and seniors to get their respective grades, and to attend a seminar focused on grading and grading etiquette. however, to attend both the grading and seminar everyone is required to have a BKA membership. more posts will be out soon with details on how to get this, but in the meantime, save the dates! 🔥💪

⚔️ an amazing day for our beginners today! gukc very kindly hosted our first ever beginners' taikai, the perfect introduction to sparring and excellent preparation for the Scottish taikai and UK University taikai. our more senior members got an opportunity to shinpan also! many thanks to gukc for being such wonderful hosts! ⚔️

the kendo dinner social at the was amazing! a great way to round off the semester and get ready for the holidays 🎄

🔥 some pictures from the seminar last Saturday with baz-sensei, jackie-sensei and dez-sensei! it was really insightful, especially for beginners, with a lot of emphasis on the basics and fundamentals. many thanks to gukc for hosting - can't wait for the next one! faito! 🔥

in order to continue participating in kendo trainings with us this year, you will need to buy a sports union AND a strath kendo membership by the 2nd of October. all the links for these are in our bio 💪. there are more available options for alumni and staff members in regards to the sports union membership, so make sure you have a look online!

Strath Sports Union: ~£30
Strath Kendo: ~£25
Strath Sport: £165 OR £4 pay as you go

the strath sport gym membership is not compulsory to attend our trainings, however it pays itself off if you attend our trainings weekly! we recommend you buy it to save some money ;)

an amazing start to the semester, with Dan winning the thistle Cup in Aberdeen! alec came back with some amazing results as well, having won in the kyu category and getting 4th in the thistle category. a huge well done and thanks to Aberdeen for hosting! 🔥

🔥 training times 23/24 🔥

here are our updated training times for the next year!

monday: 5pm - 7pm at strath sport dance studio
wednesday: 8am - 9am at strath sport sspe rooms
friday: 7:15pm - 9:15pm at strath sport dance studio

our Monday sessions are more beginner friendly and laid back; Wednesdays are more for drills and fitness stuff; Fridays are more hard-core and fun!! but either way, as long as you make a Monday or Friday session, you'll make a great kendoka yet! 💪

🔥 freshers fair! 🔥

we are super excited to be a part of the fair again this year, and right at the front no less! just head up the first flight of stairs in the union and you can't miss us 😉 come say hi and meet the committee, get to know more about kendo as a martial art and sport, and take a look at the armour you'll potentially be wearing! all super exciting stuff 😆.

as always, our come and try session is live and we look forward to meeting you all!

from 20:00, you will get a 20 minute demonstration from our best kendoka, giving you a good idea of what you can look forward to in the future. however, if you just want to get straight into it, show up at 20:20 for the fun hands-on stuff.

it will be held in strath sport's lovely dance studio on Friday the 15th of September. all we want from you is some super fighting spirit and for you to be comfortable (wear some comfy sports clothing!)
