Kelvinside Academy

Kelvinside Academy Kelvinside Academy is an independent school in Glasgow, Scotland, founded in 1878. We educate around 600 pupils aged 3 - 18 years.

Kelvinside Academy may have first opened its doors in 1878 and be housed in a Grade A listed building in Glasgow’s West End, but there’s much more going on inside the walls of the school than meets the eye.

This pair are no strangers to our Pupil Spotlight. Lula and Andrew have continued to hit the pool and had their most successful summer yet, with Scottish titles, national relay golds, British rankings and some brilliant personal bests along the way.

Together, they helped City of Glasgow secure Junior National gold, while Andrew added Scottish Open Water silver medals and a top-10 finish in Britain with a new PB. Lula enjoyed a standout Scottish Summer Meet, claiming two Scottish titles and a bronze medal.

Both were also selected to represent City of Glasgow at the British Next Gen Championships, with Andrew going on to finish 9th and 10th in Britain in the 800m and 1500m Freestyle, before rounding off the summer with a 7th-place finish at the English National Open Water Championships.

A huge summer of swimming, hard work and achievement for both — congratulations, Andrew and Lula! 👏🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

🤾‍♂️ Proud to see our pupils representing Scotland on the international stage!

This summer, eight Kelvinside Academy pupils travelled to Denmark with the Scottish Handball Academy to compete in the Generation Cup — a five-day international tournament attracting clubs and teams from around the world 🌍

In the Girls’ U17 competition, Annette M, Olivia D and Georgia R represented Scotland, putting in a fantastic performance across the week with three wins, one draw and three defeats 👏

In the Boys’ U15 competition, Nihal J and Charlie N also proudly represented Scotland, helping their team to two wins, one draw and four defeats. 💪

Meanwhile, Jasper G, Talvin J and Rory S were selected for the Boys’ U17 squad. The team recorded three wins and four defeats before qualifying for the B-Final, where they finished an impressive second place 🥈

A fantastic experience for all our talented pupils and a brilliant achievement to represent their country. Well done! 👏

It's often the little moments pupils remember most.

Earlier this year, Senior School pupils watched our ducklings hatch before helping to care for them as they grew. What started as a handful of eggs quickly became a school-wide talking point, sparking questions, conversations and plenty of smiles.

Curiosity doesn't stop at a certain age. It's something we nurture throughout every stage of school life, encouraging pupils to explore, question and discover wherever learning takes them.
