We hope all our lovely families have a wonderful long weekend in the sun☀️

As we are now enjoying lots of outdoor fun can we ask all parents to please provide a bottle of suncream with your child’s/children’s name on it. Due to the number of children now attending and children’s allergies we will no longer be offering generic suncream for children.

Parent/Carer Newsletter Spring 2023

Welcome to our Spring 2023 newsletter. The spring term is well underway and the children have been thoroughly enjoying lots of garden fun, park trips and outdoor games.
Our children’ s committee have now participated in 3 meetings and have come up with wonderful suggestions and ideas on how they wish to enhance their service provision. The committee members have created a notice board area on which they are sharing their ideas, suggestions and discussion points. A huge well done to all our committee members and we cannot wait to take forward their amazing suggestions (although the request for a swimming pool has been put on hold)
We are no longer putting children in groups and they can choose the location they wish to enjoy their play in. This can be either the garden, downstairs, upstairs or weather permitting the park. Please allow 5 minutes at collection time for your child to gather their belongings and be returned to the main door for collection. We have introduced walkie talkies for staff members to try and support a quicker and more efficient collection of children.

We are so proud of the amazing talents that the children share with us on a daily basis and they have decided they wish to put on a talent show at the end of term. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our children to display their wonderful array of talents and they have already started practicing their performances. This talent show will be fully choreographed and led by the children and they can do any performance of their choice with friends/ solo or be part of the audience and cheer their friends on. The date for the talent show will be Thursday 22nd June from 4pm-6pm and we will request video permission from all parents prior to the show to allow everyone to see the wonderful performances. If your child wishes to participate and does not attend on a Thursday afterschool, please let us know if you wish to book them in for an additional session.

As we are now enjoying lots of outdoor fun can we ask all parents to please provide a bottle of suncream with your child’s/children’s name on it. Due to the number of children now attending and children’s allergies we will no longer be offering generic suncream for children.
We really want all children to enjoy the sunny days ahead so please provide this ASAP.
Thank you

The children have suggested that they would like to start a toy shop swap service which is not only wonderful for the environment but it gives children the opportunity to enjoy new toys without the additional expense for parents buying new ones.
We will have a table allocated on which children can place a toy with a name label attached on it and they can select one to take away in exchange. We hope everyone takes us up on this idea and more children will benefit from shared resources. Can we remind parents that special toys should not be brought from home as it causes upset for children if these are lost and we wouldn’t want these to get mixed up with the toy swap.

Our registrations for August are well under way and we want to thank everyone who has recommended our service, it really is appreciated by the whole team. We have quite a lot of siblings starting this August which is really exciting. We should have issued paperwork to all siblings but please let us know if you still require this. We will continue with your current allocated pickup days in August unless you advise us of any changes to your childcare requirements. If this is the case, please let us know ASAP as current children and siblings will be prioritised.

May weekend/Summer holiday programmes

We are excited to share our summer holiday programme with you. We received amazing feedback from our children and parents last year and we hope this year’s planner does not disappoint. We have included more theme days as per children and parents’ questionnaires’ as well as some exciting new trips.
Our bookings are now open and we look forward to welcoming all our summer campers back. We can also welcome siblings who are registered to start school this August.
We are taking provisional bookings for the May holiday weekend
Friday 26th May – Monday 29th May
We have had very limited requests for these dates due to it being public holidays. Please let us know if you will require these dates before 15/th May to allow us to confirm if we will be providing a service. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our defibrator is now on site and all staff have completed the training required to use this as well as refreshing everyone’s first aid training. The safety of the children attending our service is our top priority and we feel it’s important to share our staff’s professional development achievements with parents and carers. Thank you again to everyone who helped us raise the funds required for the defibrator which is an amazing asset to have on site. The staff team are excited to be participating in Trauma informed practice training which we will host in our premises and joined by childcare professionals from other services.

We are making changes to our key worker system to try and simplify what children are allocated to each worker. Your child’s key worker will now be school based to maintain consistency with who collects your child and who their key worker is. We feel this will be more effective in supporting and forming positive relationships.
Baljaffray primary- Fatma /Christine
St. Nicholas primary-Fatma/Christine
Castlehill primary Lauren/Joanne
Mosshead Teresa/Kourtney

No scooters, bikes or balls are permitted at school pickups for the safety of all children
All fees are due in advance by the 1st of each month to avoid late payment fees
If you require your child to have breakfast, we ask that they arrive at the service no later than 8.25 am to allow them time to enjoy breakfast with friends.
As per parents contract all fees are due for your child’s days and are payable for all absences including sickness and holidays as per parents’ contract the four-week period only applies if your child is leaving the service, not for short term absences. We cannot offer another child a short-term placement in your child’s absence.
Thank you for understanding.

We hope you find our newsletter informative and welcome feedback and input from all our children, parents and carers.

Thank you, Skoolz Out Team, 😊

* construction works *

We are delighted to share that the underground pipe works outside our premises has commenced today.
This has been an ongoing and lengthy process for us to get this work agreed , authorised and carried out by Scottish water .
This should hopefully prevent any future water ingress and will alleviate the historical water issues we have had after heavy rainfall .
In addition to this there are diggers laying top soil on the piece of land across from the car park .
We are unsure what the plans for this space are but hopefully we will get further information on this soon 🙂
We appreciate these works may cause inconvenience for parents at drop off / pick up but we are sure you will agree it will be worth it and we expect the works to be completed in 1/2 weeks thank you

All toddler sessions will be cancelled until further notice keep a look out on our page for updates😃..

Welcome back
A huge welcome back to all our children and we want to take this opportunity to share all the amazing activities they have participated in since our return. The children thoroughly enjoyed celebrating burns day and our haggis, neeps and tatties taster. We also had great fun celebrating Chinese New Year with a tasting session and amazing arts & crafts activities.
Moving forward into spring the children will be enjoying planting activities and lots of garden/Park fun😊.

Children’s Belongings

Can we gently remind all parents that we cannot be responsible for children’s belongings. We do our very best to ensure children have everything with them at pick up. Due to the safety of the children, we cannot allow them to return to their class for items they have forgotten. We really do our best and would appreciate if parents could remind their children that they are responsible for their own belongings. It’s also really helpful if parents label children’s clothing.
Thank you for your corporation.

Children’s Committee

As our numbers grow, we are looking to form a children’s committee and we will be looking for children to volunteer to be members of the committee for their service. This would involve a monthly meeting within afterschool hours and supports children’s rights and allows the children to be fully inclusive within their service. They would feedback any and ideas, suggestions and changes that they would like to see in the service. We will be asking all children if they are interested in participating in the coming weeks and please let us know if your child expresses an interest in joining our committee.

Children’s Snack

We continue to give the children snacks that they choose within the service but are always keen for new suggestions,
Current snacks of choice include, Nachos and dip, cheese and ham wraps, waffles, tomato soup, noodles, pancakes, cucumber /carrot humous, and we have fruit available daily.
Please let us know if your child has any particular snack that they would like to see on our menu.

We are delighted to share that we have now purchased our defibrillator and will be taking delivery of this in the coming days. A huge thank you to all our children and families who supported this via raffles and donations. We will be completing additional staff training in the coming weeks to ensure we are all fully trained in the use of this equipment and I’m sure you will all agree it’s an amazing resource to have on site.

As you will all now be aware there are lots of strike days coming up most of you will now. The school closure dates are
22ND, 23rd ,24th FEB
28th Feb -1st March
7th - 9th March

A total of 8 dates have been announced so far. At skoolz out we are in a fortunate position that we can facilitate full day childcare for our families who require it. We are offering the flexibility of dropping your child in for their paid after school care sessions should you require it from 3pm-6pm. Due to our service provision remaining open we will be unable to offer refunds as the staff will still be here to meet your childcare needs. Thank you for understanding and a huge thank you to the staff team who have been extremely flexible in their shifts to accommodate 10-hour childcare days at such short notice. Please let us know if you will be using any of these services.

Can we remind parents of our opening hours which are 8am for breakfast drop off and 6pm closure. Our staff team are in before 8 o’clock but this is to complete a full safety check of the premises before we welcome the children. If you require an earlier breakfast, we can facilitate this at an additional cost and require notice to allow for safety checks to be completed earlier. Your child must arrive before 8.25 if they are having breakfast.

Holiday Club

Our easter camp planner will be available in the next few weeks we cannot wait to share all our amazing plans activities and trips with you all.
Gentle reminder
Can we please remind all parents that full day care requires you to supply your child with a packed lunch. We provide breakfast and snacks in the day but children are required to bring a packed lunch for their own personal preferences’ have had increasing cases of children arriving with no lunch. We will always make sure no child goes without but this puts additional pressure on staff to prepare/facilitate this .Going forward if a child arrives without their packed lunch, we will provide them with lunch but this will be chargeable of £5 per child. We hope you understand our reasons for this.

Spare item of clothing

We would really appreciate if anyone has any out grown clothing at home to donate them to skoolz out. We keep new underwear on site but it’s always handy to have spare leggings, jogging bottoms etc in case of any accidents.
Thank you as always for your on-going support 😊.

Skoolz Out!

We are a new privately owned, bespoke children’s club aiming to open in Bearsden for August 2019, just in time for the new school year.

Our service will provide a breakfast club and after school care for local Bearsden primary schools as well as full time holiday cover available to any family requiring this service.

Most Local residents will have fond memories of the old Abbortsford pub, which is the premises that we are carefully adapting into an amazing purposely designed space in which children can learn, grow and thrive. We are working hard alongside the care inspectorate and East Dunbartonshire council to ensure our premises meets and exceeds the required standards.

We envisage expanding our services to include parties, fun events and weekend activities for families and children within the area as the business grows which will allow us to become a huge asset to the local community.
