Whether you're out on a date like Sarah or having a cosy night in like Hayley, show pre-owned clothing some love today!β₯ Sarah (our own Louise's sister) is wearing a dress passed down 2 generations from their granny. Not only does keeping family heirlooms create a lovely story, but it saves high quality garments from going to waste (the high street sadly don't make em like this dress anymore), and encourages you to be creative with alterations and tweaks, like their family has.
Repair skills are an essential art to make the most out of your favourite pieces, update them with your preferences and fight fast fashion! They're also much needed currently - did you know the Edge Foundation, along with leading academics, recently published a urgent call for kids to learn more hand-crafting skills? On the decline, these are essential to make for better trained surgeons (amongst many other STEM careers) in later life.
Hayley visited her favourite charity shop in Dundee today to find some cosy red pieces for a low-key Valentine's and found plenty of date night dresses too. As an avid thrifter, she's a big fan of repairing and mending the clothes you already have. .
Have a great day whatever you do and look out for Hayley's tips coming on our story very soon - will feature quick & easy repair/DIY tips to help you keep your favourite pieces for longer, update your secondhand bargains or (who knows?) maintain a long-lasting, well loved garment which might be passed down to your own family some day?
Have you got any well loved family pieces, or repaired something to keep it loved for longer? Let us know

Hey Everyone, we want to use our first post to introduce ourselves!
We are a group of MSc Sustainability students from the who are taking part in a change project focused on raising peopleβs awareness of negative impacts surrounding fast fashion and increasing acceptance of sustainable alternativesβ»οΈ Using social media we want to inform people of the negative impacts of fast fashion, increase visibility of alternatives such as shopping second hand and buying from sustainable brands, and change any negative perceptions people may have of second hand clothesπ
We will also be working collaboratively with charity shops in Dundee and some majorly influential people so give us a follow and like our posts to keep updated and informed!π

Before I started this project I WOULD NEVER have bought clothes in second hand stores, charity shops or vintage stores.
____________________________________________
I used to think they were smelly, unorganised and the clothes would be dirty or really old and in poor condition but that just isnβt the case!!!____________________________________________
In fact the stores are always well laid out, clean, aesthetically pleasing and the clothes are in great condition! Whatβs even better is the price, more often than not even vintage stores are pocket friendlyπ·
____________________________________________
The more I learn about the negative impacts of fast fashion especially the impacts on the environment and the exploitation of workers Iβve realised I NEED TO CHANGEππΌββοΈ ____________________________________________
So here I am, taking the first step to avoiding the high street and buying from a second hand store ππΌββοΈ @ Armstrongs Vintage

Hey Everyone,
has been through his wardrobe to find clothes he no longer wears to donate to charity.
____________________________________
Where can I donate ?
Your local charity shops will likely take in store donations and are always happy for anyone to hand in a bag or two.
____________________________________
What do they accept?
Most stores take almost everything apart from underwear. This doesnβt just include clothes but also clean household items/ decoration, books, dvds and jewellery.
____________________________________
Itβs really import to donate clothes to charity, rather than throwing them away which has negative environmental impacts. Donating also allows someone else to love the clothing for longer.
Do any of you donate clothes often?
