How do humans recognise kin? We're a group of ERC-funded scientists at the University of Glasgow trying to answer this question.

We are interested in how people determine who feels “related” to them. We might just rely on what we are told, or we may also use situational clues like whether and when you lived in the same house. Physical cues, like family resemblance, may also shape these feelings. To investigate these questions, we take 3D images of relatives to see what parts of our faces reveal family relatedness. How good are you at matching a parent and a child by their faces alone? Find out and help a student project.

Face Research ⇒ Matching Parent & Child In this experiment you will be shown 57 sets of faces and be asked to find the matching parent and child. The study should take 10-15 minutes and will help an undergraduate student complete their thesis project.
