This set of posters was developed from words shared by the young people we worked with at The Good Shepherd Centre.

The young people then designed the posters digitally, bringing their words and ideas into a visual form.

We wanted to give the process the extra time and care it deserved, so we decided to have the posters screen-printed โ€” giving the words the time and space they deserve.

The result is a collection of powerful statements, created by young people with lived experience, that sit alongside the films in Everyone Has A Story.

The young people we worked with at The Good Shepherd Centre really wanted to create a film for younger people to help them understand the impact violence could have on their future.

Through stop motion and live action, we helped them to bring their ideas to life.

Big thanks to the young people at Staf for contributing their voices, acting talent, and creativity to this project.

Everyone Has A Story is part of a larger programme of work for Safe Horizons: a collaborative initiative that brings together the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit , Public Health Scotland, Police Scotland The Scottish Prevention Hub, and YouthLink Scotland to explore and prevent violence affecting young people.

We attended the premiere of ๐™€๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š ๐™ƒ๐™–๐™จ ๐˜ผ ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฎ this morning at the City Chambers.

We've been working with a group of justice-experienced young people to co-create a series of creative resources exploring the impact of violence on young people's lives. The group created two films and a series of posters, all highlighting the experiences and circumstances that can sit behind violence.

Film 1 is below: a spoken-word piece aimed at adults, challenging them to look beyond headlines and statistics to better understand the realities many young people face.

We will share Film 2 and the posters later this week; we'd love to hear what you think of the project!

We want to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing freelancers we work with. First up, we caught up with the animator behind some of your favourite Braw projects: ๐—ญ๐—ผ๐—ฒ ๐—•๐˜‚๐˜†๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€.

Tell us a bit about you and your work
Iโ€™m a freelance animator and illustrator based in Glasgow, although Iโ€™ve recently started labelling myself as an artist too! I primarily create 2D explainer videos using vector-based illustrations, but over the past few months Iโ€™ve been experimenting with collage and incorporating found textures into my work.

Whatโ€™s your favourite Braw project youโ€™ve worked on?
Iโ€™ve been very fortunate to work on a number of projects for Braw Talent, so itโ€™s hard to narrow it down. One of my favourites has to be Same Shoes, a video for St Maryโ€™s Kenmure.
It was one of my favourites because it pushed me outside my comfort zone in terms of character design, animation and framing shots. Darren and Lydia always put their trust in me and guide me to create work that Iโ€™m proud of.

What does your working day look like?
As a freelancer, no two days are the same. Sometimes Iโ€™m at my computer all day, forgetting to eat because Iโ€™m so engrossed in a project. Other days could be very quiet, and youโ€™ll find me away from my desk wandering around charity shops or giving my flat a deep clean haha!

What is your top tip for someone who wants to pursue a creative career?
Donโ€™t hold back and just go for it. In a world of increasing AI use, we need more creatives who are passionate about what they do. Also, if you are just starting out, donโ€™t let the fear of failure hold you back from doing something you love.

Tell us something people donโ€™t know about you?
Iโ€™m a self-taught animator!! My degree was in Communication Design and I spent my final year at art school teaching myself how to use After Effects. Iโ€™ve been doing it for seven years now and I still have so much to learn...

โ€œGive that girl more tats!โ€

Weโ€™re buzzing to share โ€œIt Starts Hereโ€ a co-produced animation made with The Why Not? Trust for Care Experienced Young People exploring the Care Experienced Parents Charter.

We worked with parents to coproduce this film at every stage โ€“ and when one participant requested more tats on a character, and another suggested a character have alopecia like she did, we delivered. These are the details that make all the difference to the final film.

It brings to life real experiences faced by care-experienced parents when interacting with professionals, and shows how small changes in language and approach can lead to much more positive outcomes.

โ€œIf there are 143 ways to cook an egg, surely there are infinite ways to learn.โ€

That line is at the heart of If You Canโ€™t Stand The Heat.

The film is part of Storylines, a wider project of three short films made with, and by children and young people who have found challenges in mainstream school.

All children have the right to an education that develops their personality, talents and abilities to their fullest potential and childrenโ€™s participation should be fully embedded within education. Children who are further from their rights must have their views heard and Scottish Government should provide the resources needed to deliver an inclusive education system.

Did you know we've expanded the team? Lisa Keddie has been working with us as a freelancer since the beginning of Braw, but we've recently brought her on a permanent basis as our Scriptwriter and Story Development Lead.

Having an in-house scriptwriter means we can invest even more time in what matters most - listening, collaborating and turning real experiences into honest, authentic stories. It also means there's a much higher chance of a perfectly timed pun... and, if Lisa gets her way, at least one cat making an appearance in every script.

Welcome to the team, Lisa!
