🔎 Nothing quite says British summertime like a game of tennis! With exam leave coming to an end, today our pupils took to the courts for the Scottish Schools’ Championships (Girls).

🎾 We’re sure many former pupils will have ace memories of their time playing this classic summer sport. Please do share them in the comments below!

🤩 This week's image dates back over 60 years and shows our Glasgow High School for Girls’ Tennis Team from session 1962/63. Were you part of a tennis team during your time at HSOG?

📣 Drawing on our Choir School roots, we help pupils to find their voice. There's no better example of this than our Junior School Public Speaking competition.

🤩 Public Speaking is something many grown adults fear and we are always blown away by how natural and confident our young speakers are. Everyone who took part did a tremendous job and Senior School English Teacher, Miss Head, had the tough task of judging the competition.

🏆 Congratulations to Felicity M (J4) who came first with her speech focused on the topic of 'German Words'. Second place went to Robbie K (J5) with his talk on 'Different Perspectives'. And in third place was Cara P (J4) who discussed 'What I would do if I ran the School for the day'. A huge well done to all!

Today marked the end of the SQA exams for High School pupils for 2024 and the retiral of our Chief Invigilator, Pat Mories, after 36 years in the post. Pat will be known to generations of High School pupils who have benefited from her efficiency and organisation over the years. We wish Pat a very happy retirement!

😅 We are just about catching our breath after an action-packed Activities Week last week for our Transitus to Senior 3 pupils.

🙌 Graffiti workshops, castle excursions, Science Centre visits, the great outdoors, Royal Navy Workshops, climbing and bouldering, cycling, body balance, Disney themed baking, musical theatre, the list goes on....! It certainly was a memorable week for the lower half of our Senior School as they got to discover new talents and hobbies outside of the regular timetable.

📸 Enjoy a selection of photographs taken by staff!

💡 START is not about learning a syllabus or passing a test, it is about pupils gaining a problem-solving toolkit that allows them to follow their curiosity and create a solution to a real-world problem.

🎯 This problem-based approach adopted by START means there is no ceiling to what pupils can achieve and they gain skills that will help them to achieve their future goals in education and the world of work. Discover the impact it's had on Class of 2023 winner, Liam McColl in the video below.

ℹ For more information, and to get involved as a mentor or partner school, or if you’d like to find out more about the funding opportunities for START, fill out the form on our website: https://www.highschoolofglasgow.co.uk/start

🔎 We strongly encourage our pupils to explore outdoor pursuits, including participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

🥾This week, our DofE Bronze Teams departed for their Qualifying Expeditions! We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that they experience only the best of Scotland’s summer weather!

🌳 Back in the days of our former boys’ school, pupils regularly took part in outdoor Corps excursions, like the trip to Arran shown in the image below from 1960.

🤩 Code-named Exercise “Headwaters”, pupils put their skills to the test and developed their endurance, initiative and resourcefulness over the course of four days.

👇 What outdoor activities were you part of during your time at the School? Please do share your memories below!

🤩 Skiing superstar alert! It was quite a day yesterday for Ellie M (Transitus) who won the SSSA Scottish Dry Slopes P5-P7 girls individual championship at Bearsden Ski Club!

🥇 It was edge of the seat stuff, with Ellie's winning time gaining her 1st place by just .01 of a second!

⛷ This was the first time the event had taken place specifically for primary age pupils and drew racers from all over the country.

🎿 Congratulations to the whole team who took part: Ellie, Charlie M (Transitus), Harry (J6) and Niamh (J5). Collectively, the team finished 13th out of 33 Teams.

🐳 Last week, our very own Junior One Ocean Experts welcomed their families into their classrooms to share with them all that they have learned throughout their recent topic 'Under the Sea'.

🐙To open, they entertained their audience hugely through a presentation packed with information and a good dose of humour! They showed how their work in Drama, PE and Music had all linked into this engaging theme, then took their parents all around their various pieces of ocean related work, ranging from phonics and writing to Maths and Science! Well done to our littlest learners in the Junior School!

🌏 To mark 900 continuous years of HSOG, we have set ambitious fundraising goals through our 900 Campaign. One of which is to be a place of education within sustainable, net-zero and environmentally conscious campuses by 2050.

🌲 By building upon our green values, we aim to implement innovative and eco-friendly initiatives, upgrading our infrastructure and developing sustainable practices into every aspect of school life.

☀️ Your support would allow us to invest in more sustainable practices across our Senior and Junior School campuses, including solar panels and heating systems which are not dependent upon fossil fuels.

🎻 Our young musicians had a brilliant time performing in the Junior School Instrumental Ensemble Concert earlier this week!

🎷 During an unforgettable showcase of the musical talent of our Junior School pupils, there were performances from the Percussion & String Ensembles, the Wind Band, guitar groups, piper & chanter players and harpists, all led by our incredible Music Department.

🎸 Our pupils have worked incredibly hard in rehearsals throughout the year and relished presenting the musical fruits of their labours to an audience of High School families.

🎼 Bravo!
