🏃🏻‍♀️ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲!

Former pupil 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱) first made her mark in the sporting world as a Scottish international hockey player. This weekend, she competes in the 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝟳𝟬.𝟯 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 in Nice, France.

One of 𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟯𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, Erin will tackle the formidable challenge of swimming 1.9km, cycling 90km, and running 21.1km, proudly bearing the Scottish Saltire on her triathlon suit.

From competing in her first triathlon aged eight to securing a qualifying spot in Valencia earlier this year, Erin's place at the championship is the culmination of years of commitment, endurance and dedication.

Everyone at the High School is incredibly proud of Erin's achievement and wishes her every success in Nice.

Tristan Mills has headed across the Atlantic this summer to study Economics at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania – the world's number one ranked institution for business and economics. He turned down offers from Yale, Cornell, Columbia, UCLA and Brown to get there, beating odds tougher than Oxbridge to earn his place.

But Tristan's story isn't just about one exceptional pupil – it's a glimpse of what's possible when ambition and dedication meet an exceptional educational environment. From founding our Economics Club to leading the School as Captain, every step built towards this moment. 🌍

We're thrilled to have opened our brand-new strength & conditioning facilities at Old Anniesland, thanks to the generous support of Arnold Clark. Alongside our five floodlit pitches, this state-of-the-art space is the engine room behind our new Rugby Academy, giving pupils the tools to train like professionals, right here on campus.

It's a truly exciting time to be part of The High School of Glasgow community. This is just the beginning. 💪

Today, as Heather Gill's family and friends gather in County Kerry to celebrate her life, we remember with great affection a cherished member of The High School of Glasgow community.

Heather had a long and special association with the High School. Her children, Emily (Class of 2023) and Murray (Class of 2027), attended both the Junior and Senior Schools, and Heather herself became a valued colleague and friend to many during her time with us. Before joining the Junior School as a Junior 6 teacher in 2018, Heather worked closely with the Senior School PE Department, where she generously gave her time and support. Throughout her years at the School, she built many enduring friendships and made a significant contribution to school life.

After leaving The High School of Glasgow, Heather moved with her family to County Kerry, where she embraced a new chapter of life and, true to her nature, became fully involved in the local community that gathers to honour her today.

Heather was an exceptionally talented individual who shared her gifts generously with others. Whether crafting, baking, writing poetry, swimming or singing, she brought creativity, energy and kindness to everything she did. She was a very special woman, known too for her quick wit, whose warmth, enthusiasm and presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her at the High School. Above all, Heather was a dedicated and highly skilled teacher who cared deeply for the children in her class and whose influence continues to be felt by many pupils now in the upper stages of our Senior School.

Community lies at the heart of our School, and Heather embodied that spirit throughout her years with us. She forged strong connections and touched the lives of colleagues, pupils and families alike. Her friendship, support and unmistakable presence will be remembered with great fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Today, as we reflect on the life of a remarkable colleague and friend, our thoughts are especially with Mike, Emily and Murray as they celebrate Heather's life and the many happy memories she leaves behind.

🏉 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗗

Our first week of the 𝗛𝗦𝗢𝗚 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 is now underway at Old Anniesland, with players getting to know the Warrior coaching team. It has been fantastic to see the programme we’ve been building come to life.

Following continued demand, we’re delighted to be able to extend capacity even further on Monday and Wednesday evenings, meaning new places are now available.

The programme is open to boys and girls aged 11–18, either attending The High School of Glasgow or anyone from the wider rugby community. There is no selection process and no requirement to attend the High School. Players can choose to train one, two or three evenings each week, combining:

🎯 Position-specific Development
🧠 Performance Education

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 🇨🇦

🏉 Last month, our rugby players headed across the Atlantic for an unforgettable tour in Canada, testing themselves on the pitch and proudly representing the school overseas.

🌊 Between training sessions and fixtures, the group experienced some of Canada's most iconic attractions, visiting the CN Tower, taking in the views from Centre Island, enjoying a thrilling jet-boat ride in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and witnessing the spectacular Niagara Falls.

✈️ A fantastic experience for pupils and staff, both on and off the pitch!

To mark the occasion, this week's looks back almost fifty years to our 1977/78 first XV.

It's going to be an incredible year for sport here at the High School and we're so excited for what lies ahead! 💫
