How do you put classically trained musicians into Fortnite? 👾🎻🤔

Our RCS Innovation Studio is piloting new research and development labs dedicated to working with industry partners on collaborative research and innovation projects.

Here’s an insight into the first of these with XR (extended reality) specialists Copper Candle, which brought together RCS staff and students and motion capture technology to explore new approaches to instrumental performance in virtual environments such as Fortnite.

The initiative connects businesses to creative talent, research expertise, and specialist facilities at the Conservatoire, creating opportunities to test new ideas, develop prototypes, and explore solutions to real-world creative challenges.

The stage is set for the MA/MFA Acting/Directing Classical and Contemporary Text production of 'Travesties' By Tom Stoppard, Directed by L.A. Mars.

Zürich, 1917. While poppies bloom across the fields of Europe, the artists, revolutionaries, and exiles of the world converge in pacific Switzerland to engage in conflict of a different kind. Here, three unlikely figures collide: an Irish poet, a Romanian absurdist, and the future leader of the Soviet Union. Henry Carr knew them all – or so he claims.

Through the fractured memories of a minor British official, Tom Stoppard’s Travesties turns history into a dazzling parody of The Importance of Being Earnest. Hilarious, anarchic, and startlingly relevant, this modern classic asks what purpose art serves in a world at war.

Break a leg to the team on our production of Pomona which opens tonight 🐙

Ollie is searching for her missing twin. Fay is hiding from her husband. Moe can’t touch the people he loves. Zeppo never gets involved. And Keaton just wants to play Dungeons & Dragons, but she’s hiding a violent secret.

As rumours of disappearances spread, they’re all drawn towards the same place: Pomona. What happens there is a mystery, but whenever people go missing, Pomona is at the centre of the conversation.

Join us for Alistair McDowall’s gripping and unsettling thriller...‌🔪

A brilliant time was had at our Creative Conversation at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 🙌

A huge thank you to alumni Cora Bissett, Jamie Rea, Petre Dobre and Benedetta Zanetti for sharing their experiences of creating the award-winning production The Singer.

The Singer blends British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English to tell the story of a deaf artist who beautifully “sings” and expresses music with his hands.

It was wonderful to see so many members of our alumni community come together for an evening of inspiring conversation, connection and celebration. Thanks too to Jonathan Lloyd for hosting.

When Ukrainian pianist .tereshchenko.106 arrived in Glasgow, he was searching for more than a place to study music – he wanted the freedom to develop as an artist on his own terms.

Now, thanks to a Changemaker Scholarship from TSH Talent Foundation, powered by The Social Hub, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland student is doing exactly that.

Artem, who is studying on a two-year master’s degree in Piano Performance, is pursuing his musical ambitions while building a life in Glasgow that would otherwise have been out of reach.

Last week, we welcomed our partners Joy Education International back to RCS! Around 300 young people travelled to Scotland to take part in a cultural exchange as part of an international Summer School. Chinese and Scottish students performed together in Opening and Closing ceremonies at Perth Concert Hall, and for eight days we hosted Chinese performers for adjudications and activities here at RCS.

Check out these beautiful pictures from this celebration of shared cultures!
