Listening to the mind and body isn't always easy. Unfortunately, I've been ignoring messages to slow things down. Well, I'm finally listening and have decided to take a pause from teaching yoga at the moment.

This Sunday I will teach my last classes before Alice Gray takes over for 4:00 p.m. Vinyasa and Lorrainelivy, Holistic Therapies & Yoga begins teaching 6:00 p.m. Yin. If you are available this Sunday it would be great to have you all in class.

Whether you're available this Sunday or not, I look forward to practicing beside you all soon with Greenez Yoga and at the The Kali Collective Yoga Studio. Thank you all for creating such an amazing community of yogis!

Because of the fabulous weather we've had in Glasgow, Greenez Yoga and I decided to hike Ben Lomond last weekend. In honor of this majestic, sturdy mountain, tonight's Vinyasa Foundations class will focus on finding stability in balancing postures, such as Tree Pose (Vrksasana). Join me at The Kali Collective Yoga Studio at 7:45 p.m. tonight to work on finding stability and a solid foundation.

Bring a friend or two and channel your inner warrior tomorrow night! I'll be teaching Vinyasa Foundations Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

During class, we'll break down Warrior II pose (Virabhadrasana II). This physically demanding posture helps strengthen the legs and open the hips and inner groin area.

Would you like a yoga tune-up or do you know anyone who's new to yoga? Vinyasa Foundations starts this Thursday night - 7:45 p.m. at The Kali Collective Yoga Studio. Glasgow.

This week we'll start by breaking down Downward Facing Dog pose (Adho Mukha Svanasana). It's a posture that's done frequently in vinyasa yoga as both a transition between other poses, and eventually, as a resting pose.

The physical benefits of Downward Facing Dog include strengthening the upper back, arms, quadriceps and ankles. This inverted pose also increases flexibility in the chest and hamstrings, improves posture and can improve digestion.

Come learn more about this posture and flow with me on Thursday!!

Video "Bier-Yoga" - ARD-Buffet 31/03/2016

As a lover of yoga and beer (generally separately) this clip makes me smile. :-) Every day on my yoga mat is different, so why not combine beer and yoga when you have an intention of lightness, fun, and play? I'll toast to that. Cheers!

Note: The clip is in German, but even if you don't speak it you can still understand what's going on.

I had a fabulous time at the teachers' intensive with Taylor Harkness yesterday! At the start of the workshop, we went around the room and shared what brought us to yoga and why we teach. Everyone had a beautiful and unique story about how they were drawn to yoga.

I shared my own story of initially trying a yoga class because I heard it was a great workout. At this time, I was just starting out as a Ph.D. student; I was frequently overwhelmed and set unrealistically high expectations for myself. As a result of my stress, I experienced heartburn on almost a daily basis. Little did I know that yoga would provide me with so much more than exercise. Not only did my heartburn resolve itself, but I began to approach life with more balance, felt a greater sense of awareness of my body and internal state, developed a deeper connection to those around me, and learned to approach difficulty with more lightness and ease.

So on this lovely St. Paddy's day consider: What initially drew you to yoga and what continues to bring you back to your mat?

Shining brightly. Connecting deeply.

We left reminded that we are all unique souls with unique voices, forging unique paths that are carved only by us.
