Saltire Scholars Programme

A pretty special moment for four of our Saltire Scholars in Boston last week. 🇺🇸

Nicholas, Logan, Ross and Megan had the opportunity to meet First Minister John Swinney while volunteering at the Scotland Business Reception, an event celebrating the connections between Scotland and the United States.

After travelling from Scotland to undertake internships in Boston this summer, they were able to share their own Saltire journeys and experiences directly with the First Minister.

Experiences like this are part of what makes a Saltire internship so memorable. It's not just about the work you'll do, but the people you'll meet, the connections you'll make, and the opportunities that can come your way along the journey.

Saltire Scholar Summer 2026 is now underway! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Throughout June, students from universities across Scotland have been setting off to begin summer internships with organisations across Scotland, the wider UK, Canada, the USA and Australia.

Working across a wide range of sectors and roles, they’re getting stuck into projects, meeting new teams, and building the skills, experience and connections that will support them long after the summer ends.

It’s taken months of applications, assessment centres, interviews and preparation to get to this point, and we’re excited to see the Scholars making the most of every opportunity that comes their way.

We’ll be sharing stories from across the cohort throughout the summer, so stay tuned to see where the journey takes them.

This week, we brought together our Saltire Scholars Programme Class of 2026 for two Send-Off Celebrations in Glasgow and Edinburgh ahead of internships starting this summer.

Over the next few months, nearly 200 students from across Scotland will be heading off to internships across Scotland, the UK, Australia, Canada and the USA 🌍

The nights were all about celebrating the hard work that got everyone to this point, meeting fellow scholars, making new connections, and getting excited for everything still to come this summer.

And if you’re still in our 2026 Candidate Pool - don’t worry, internship matching is still continuing 👀 More opportunities are still to come, so keep checking the portal and keep applying.

Tomorrow, we’ll be bringing together our 2026 Saltire Scholars cohort for not one, but two Send-Off Celebrations taking place simultaneously in Glasgow and Edinburgh 🎉

These events are a chance for scholars to come together with fellow interns, alumni and university partners to celebrate all of the hard work that’s gone into securing their summer internships - and all of the exciting experiences still to come this summer.

From assessment centres and applications to interviews and internship matching, it’s been a huge journey already, and tomorrow is all about recognising that achievement and building connections before internships begin.

Looking to build real marketing experience this summer? 📢

We’re excited to be promoting a Marketing Internship with Carlyle , an Edinburgh-based firm that works with organisations across the UK to help build strong leadership teams.
