We had lots of visitors, some new faces and lots of our now grown up kiddies who loved to reminisce and even have a wee play.💜

Last night we celebrated our 2026 graduates! 🎓

We are incredibly proud of each and every child. You have all done a fantastic job over the last few weeks preparing for graduation, and it was wonderful to see your hard work shine through.

A huge thank you also goes to our team, who worked very hard to support and prepare the children for this special milestone.

Graduates, you are more than ready for this exciting next chapter in your journey.

Did you know that around 90% of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5? 🧠

Before most people realise just how important the early years really are.

Research shows that early experiences quite literally shape the architecture of the developing brain. The connections built in these years form the foundation for emotional wellbeing, relationships, communication, resilience, and future learning.

Which means the “little things” are actually the big things.
🌈 Feeling safe
🌈 Being comforted
🌈 Playing freely
🌈 Exploring outdoors
🌈 Hearing stories again and again
🌈 Having responsive, loving adults nearby

These moments are not just filling time.
They are building brains. 🧠

Children do not learn best through pressure and rushing. They learn best through connection, play, movement, emotional safety, and relationships.

That’s why early years educators fight so hard to protect childhood.

Because when we protect play, nurture attachment, and create emotionally safe environments, we are not “just playing.”

…We are shaping the foundations of a human being. 🌈🫶🏻❤️

What will BIG Kidstore Out of School Care look like?
We’ve had lots of messages from parents asking what we’re planning, so here’s a little glimpse…
Our aim is simple — to create a fun, relaxed space where children can unwind after school, spend time with friends and choose what they enjoy.

At the Storehouse, we’ll have:

✨ A large hall for active play
✨ A secure outdoor space
✨ A cosy chill-out room with sofas
✨ A café-style area for snacks and games
✨ A boardroom for homework
✨ A “jam room” for arts, crafts and messy play

Children will have loads to choose from — table tennis, pool, basketball, scooters, skateboards, creative activities, STEM and games — as well as trips to Dumbreck Marshes, Bogside Play Park and the football pitch near St Patrick’s.

We’re also developing a forest-style adventure area beside the nursery, which will mainly be used during holidays (and possibly some summer term afternoons).
Outdoor learning is something we really value, and we’re excited to build this over time 🌿
As with anything new, this will grow and evolve — we’re building something special, and the children will help shape it along the way.

A QUICK NOTE —
We’ve had a huge level of interest (which is amazing!), and we’re currently working through a high volume of enquiries, emails and deposits. Please bear with us — we will get back to everyone as soon as we can.

We have secured the venue and are currently progressing through the Care Inspectorate registration process. We’ll keep everyone updated as things move forward.
