One week down, one to go, until Ciara takes on the Mighty Stride for VTO at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk!

While she's out training, here's why it matters: our volunteer tutors support hundreds of children across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth & Kinross with their reading, spelling, writing and number work. For many, one hour a week with a volunteer tutor is the difference between falling further behind and starting to catch up.

Every pound raised by Ciara helps us recruit, train and support the next volunteer tutor. Support her here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ciarahogg-1776425180030

We're growing our Fundraising & Communications team!

VTO is looking for two volunteers to help us reach more children, volunteers and supporters and share our story:

πŸ“£ Social Media Volunteer: create content in Canva, schedule posts and share our impact across Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn.

πŸ“° Marketing & Communications Volunteer: help us grow our reach beyond social media, through newsletters, press releases and community outreach.

Both roles are around 3 hours a week, for at least 6 months. No formal experience needed, just enthusiasm and a bit of time to give.

Ciara, our Edinburgh Learning Communities Coordinator, is lacing up her boots for the Mighty Stride at this year's Edinburgh Kiltwalk on 13 September, and she's doing it for VTO.

In Ciara's words: ""The reason why I am walking the Kiltwalk is to raise awareness of our organisation and promote the amazing work that us as staff and our volunteers do to ensure that the children and young people get support with their Maths and English learning.""

Every child VTO supports gets one to one help from a trained volunteer tutor, often exactly the kind of support that makes the difference between falling behind and catching up. Ciara is walking around 22 miles to help us reach more of them.

You can back her here. Thanks to Gift Aid and the Hunter Foundation's top up, up to 125% of what you give can reach VTO.

Every step counts, and so does every donation!

πŸ’œ This Sunday the 16th, our very own Yulia is taking on the Dundee Kiltwalk to raise funds for VTO, and she could use your support.

In her words:

"I'm taking part in the Dundee Kiltwalk to raise funds for VTO, a charity that's especially close to my heart. As the Learning Coordinator for Perth and Kinross, I see firsthand the positive impact our volunteer tutors have in helping young people who cannot afford private tuition with their literacy, numeracy and confidence. By taking on this challenge, I hope to support the incredible work VTO does and help ensure more people can access the life-changing opportunities our charity provides. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Thank you for your support!"

Every pound goes straight towards recruiting, training and supporting the volunteer tutors who help children across Scotland build confidence and get the most out of their education.

Cheer her on with a donation here πŸ‘‰ https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/vtodundeekiltwalk2026

We provide free one-to-one tutoring to children who need it most, and we're always looking for volunteer tutors to join us. You don't need to be a teacher, just someone willing to give a little time to help a child learn.

The boots are off and the blisters are real. πŸ’š

Last weekend our amazing team took on the Glasgow Kiltwalk for children across Scotland who need our support most. We could not be prouder of them.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated and got behind us. You are a part of the change that genuinely transforms young lives.

Our Just Giving page is still open if you haven't had the chance to donate yet.https://tinyurl.com/4br3nbvk

Everyone deserves to find their footing. πŸ’›

This weekend, our team laces up for the Glasgow Kiltwalk to raise funds for VTO. We recruit, train and support volunteer tutors to work one-to-one with children across Scotland who need a little extra help with their learning, because no young person's potential should be limited by their family's circumstances.

Every pound you donate goes directly to placing more volunteer tutors with the children who need them most.

If you can spare a donation, however small, please use the link below to support our team this Saturday. Thank you. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This weekend, our team is pulling on their tartan and taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk in support of VTO!

We believe that every child deserves access to educational support, regardless of their family's circumstances. But for too many young people across Scotland, the attainment gap is very real.

That is where our volunteer tutors come in. Ordinary people, giving their time to work one-to-one with children who just need a little extra help with their learning.

Every pound raised this weekend goes directly towards recruiting, training and placing more volunteer tutors with the children who need them most. No fundraising admin fees, no middlemen. Just real impact for real kids.

If you can spare even a small donation, it means the world to our walkers and to the young people we work with. You can sponsor our team via the link below. πŸ’›
