Where Hollywood waves go wrong šŸ‘€

If your waves look beautiful when you first dress them out… then start splitting and separating, look at where you’re backcombing.

In this quick tutorial I’m showing exactly where I place my backcombing to support the wave, keep those sections connected and create that continuous Hollywood shape.

It’s a tiny detail — but it can completely change your finished result.

Save this one for the next time you’re practising your waves ✨

It’s all in the detail.

When applying glitter to a finished style, I use the tail of my aluminium comb rather than a brush.

No clogged-up bristles, more control — and it feels almost like drawing with a pen.

Small change. Much more precise finish. ✨

it’s all in the prep.

I often get asked how long I’ve been doing this…

This beautiful wedding was 20 years ago.

And when I look back at these photographs, what I love most is that the hair doesn’t really tell you that.

Trends come and go, but I’ve always believed bridal hair should still feel beautiful when you look back at it 10, 20 or even 30 years later.

Beautiful shape. Balance. Detail. Hair that feels like you, rather than a moment in time.

My techniques have evolved. The products and tools have definitely changed.

But the principle hasn’t.

Timeless hair has always mattered. šŸ¤

Happy 20th Anniversary to Karen and John, wishing you many more years of love and happiness together ✨

A little look behind the scenes from my time on the hair team for the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.

It’s always a privilege to be part of events like this and to work alongside such a talented team of hair professionals.

Looking forward to being back on Sunday for the Closing Ceremony. ✨

Thank you to and for putting such a fantastic team together and leading us all throughout ✨

Thanks to and for the amazing products and support

Let’s face it… for most of the service, everyone is looking at the back of the hairstyle.

That’s why details like this matter.

A tiny adjustment to the position of a veil clip can completely change the finish.

It’s not another technique.

It’s another way of seeing.

Experience changes what you see.

Refinement isn’t about doing more.

It’s about noticing more

I don’t ask for much…

Just the front barrier, the set list and a couple of guitar picks. šŸ¤˜šŸ»šŸ˜‚

Sometimes the smallest details only reveal themselves when you change your perspective.

In this case, it was a tiny section of hair that only became obvious against a dark background.

I notice the same thing with bridal accessories all the time. Last week alone I made tiny adjustments to flowers and accessories on several brides—not because they were wrong, but because they interrupted the overall finish.

Beautiful hair isn’t about chasing perfection.

It’s about noticing the details that quietly make the biggest difference.

Experience changes what you see.
