Quick clip from The Stylist Experience ✨
Pin curl tip:
Pin the whole curl (tails in) = bouncy + polished
Leave the tails out = soft + effortless
Same technique. Different result.
Style with intention, not just steps.

Seeing a hairstyle tutorial isn’t the same as learning how to create it.
One of the best things you can do as a stylist is master 4 or 5 hair ups so well that you could create them under pressure, when you’re short on time, or when your mind suddenly goes blank.
Because it will.
We’ve all had those moments where a client is sitting in the chair, the clock is ticking, and the style you’ve practised a hundred times suddenly disappears from your head.
That’s why practice matters.
Not watching.
Not saving.
Not screenshotting.
Practice.
When you’ve repeated a style enough times, it becomes second nature. You stop thinking about the steps and start focusing on the client, the shape, and the finish.
That’s where confidence comes from.
Learn. Practise. Refine.
That’s exactly what we focus on inside The Stylist Experience.
One of the biggest things that transformed my hair up work was understanding balance and placement.
I use what I call the “invisible line” running from the jawline to help determine where the bulk of the style should sit.
A low messy bun sits below the line.
A higher style sits above it.
It sounds simple — but this is what creates harmony, proportion, and a style that actually flatters the face and overall silhouette.
This is the kind of understanding that takes you beyond just following steps.
We go deeper into concepts like this inside The Stylist Experience and throughout my in-person education.

A snippet from tonight’s live — salon friendly styling with real volume ✨
One of the biggest mistakes I see is stylists creating the curl… then flattening the root.
Massaging the roots of the curls helps expand the shape, soften the structure, and create that show-stopping volume without losing movement.
It’s these small adjustments that completely change the finished result.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being at Sally’s Beauty in Aberdeen demonstrating the new Wella Smooth Filler on my lovely model ✨
Such an easy product to work with — quick application, smooth consistency and amazing control throughout the service.
One of the biggest benefits is how it helps leave the hair feeling softer, smoother and more manageable while reducing frizz and improving overall condition 💛
The finished result was absolutely beautiful — glossy, sleek and healthy-looking hair with a gorgeous smooth finish 😍
Thank you to everyone who came along to watch the demo and ask questions. Always love sharing new products and techniques with fellow hair professionals ✂️
And YES - it is now available in my salon suite for all my wonderful clients and a fantastic semi permanent treatment to control frizz for pre wedding preparation too 👌🏻

The key to this French twist half-up?
It’s all in the hand positioning + pin technique ✨
Once you flip the pin upward into the twist, it stays secure all day.

A small adjustment that makes a big difference.
Instead of placing grips on the outside of the style, work them into the structure so they’re hidden and actually supporting the shape.
It creates a cleaner finish and a more secure hold at the same time.
This is the level of refinement we focus on inside The Stylist Experience.
