What a wee superstar!

It’s been a while so here’s today’s congratulations post from Starstruck Stage School.

This is Miss Erin Laurie who is now teaching in Rashiilea Primary School in Erskine. She has been continuing much of what she learned over her 10 years at Starstruck by running her own glee club for the pupils.
During her time as a student at Starstruck Erin appeared in β€˜Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’, β€˜Whistle Down the Wind’, β€˜Doctor Doolittle β€˜ and β€˜Jesus Christ Superstar’.
Erin graduated from Strathclyde University with a BA in teaching in 2017 and were all delighted to see that her years at Starstruck have been valuable to her in her chosen profession.
Well done Erin. ❀️

We agree with all of these statements.

Ladies and gentleman, I’m delighted to share the good news with you that Miss Hannah Berry has completed her degree in Musical Theatre at New College, Lanarkshire.

Hannah joined Starstruck aged 7 and has appeared in the professional tours of β€˜Annie’ (with Su Pollard), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, β€˜Whistle Down the Wind’, β€˜Evita’ ( all for Bill Kenwrights Ltd) and 5 years as a juvenile in the Kings Theatre pantos. In the final one, Peter Pan, she was honoured to be asked to be understudy to both Tinkerbell and Tiger Lily.

For the last 5 years she has also been my irreplaceable assistant at Wednesday and Thursday classes and since January she has taken over the role of singing teacher too.

Everyone at Starstruck is delighted to see the great successes Hannah has had and we eagerly wait to see what exciting opportunities the future holds for her.

Congratulations Hannah,

For our congratulations post tonight I’d like to introduce you all to Cara McCombe. I’m delighted to say that Cara has successfully completed her degree course in Musical Theatre at Arts Educational College in London.

Cara joined Starstruck Stage School when she was 6 and in her time at the school she appeared in a number of professional musicals with her friends at the school such as β€˜Joseph and the Amaing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and β€˜Half a Sixpence’ to name but a few.

Now that she has completed her course Cara has signed with an agent in London and is auditioning for professional shows.

We know that Cara has a great future ahead of her and everyone at Starstruck is sending her love as she starts out on this next stage in her career.

If you want to work towards a career in musical theatre just like Cara and are aged 5-18 then why not register for a place to start at Starstruck Stage School starting in August? Let us give you the tools to build your career.

It’s going to be a busy weekend here on our page as I post on the successes of several of our former students like this guy here, Andrew Brien.

One of my original students 15 years ago, last night I had the absolute pleasure of watching him completely own the role of Roger in Elysians production of β€˜Rent’ last night. What a powerful, and emotive performance he gave us last night. I couldn’t have been prouder.

After the show Andrew was chatting about playing the part and still credits the teaching he received at Starstruck Stage School for so much of the performer he is today. Just a wonderful thing to hear.

If you want to learn from great teachers , like Andrew did, then why not enrol with us for classes restarting in August?

Everyone at Starstruck is sending good luck wishes to our Lyall Murray tonight. Lyalls school, Carleith Primary is putting on their own show, β€˜Cinders’ this week and we are delighted to say that Lyall is playing the part of Buttons.

We know he’s going to be brilliant in the role and look forward to hearing all about his experiences next week at class.

Break a leg Lyall. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

It’s a day of congratulations to another of our former students: Miss Amy Frater has just graduated with a Masters in International Business with Spanish!
Amy we are so proud of your achievements and wish you every success in the future. 🌟❀️

Finally! We are so excited to be able to announce that Miss Emma Mullen, one of our former students has been cast as Sophie in the 2019-20 UK and International Tour of MAMA MIA the hit musical!

We are beyond thrilled for Emma and can’t wait to see her when the show comes to both Edinburgh and the Glasgow.

Emma you thoroughly deserve this role. Enjoy every moment of it all. ❀️❀️❀️❀️❀️❀️

Wishing our Hannah loads of luck for her opening night of her degree show - β€˜The Last Five Years’ at Webster’s Theatre tonight. I’m very excited about going to see her in it tomorrow night. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

I hope all our older students currently sitting exams will get some inspiration from this. Xx

Don't Make Your Kids Quit Dancing To Study 14/01/2019

Well worth a read for parents

Don't Make Your Kids Quit Dancing To Study Quitting all fun stuff doesn't encourage discipline. If anything, I'd argue we need to show our children how their dance or exercise can help with their exam revision. It can help manage stress and re-focus their brain.

Why You Should Enroll Your Child in a Musical Theatre Class 09/01/2019

These were the reasons why I started Starstruck. The skills we teach enhance so many aspects of a child's life.

Why You Should Enroll Your Child in a Musical Theatre Class Many people often think that theatre classes aren't right for their child. Perhaps your son has never expressed a desire to act or your daughter isn't interested in dancing, so you've never explored the possibility of them trying those hobbies. But what if there were other things for them to learn,

Some very, very sad news for our school today: our Honorary Patron Richard Swerrun, who played the role of 'Joseph' in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' has passed away. W had the privilege of working with him in this show on more than one occasion as well as 'Whistle Down the Wind' all at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow.

I personally was fortunate to call him a friend, and my heart goes out to his partner David, and his family.

As everyone who knew and loved him has said today, in the words of the song, "There's one more Angel in heaven".
God bless you Richard.
