Founded in 1890 as part of the then Queen Margaret College, the QMU has spent the last 125 years going out of its way to make student life at Glasgow more interesting, more rewarding and less expensive for everyone who comes in the door.

It’s not goodbye, it’s HOWAY you later to our dear Archie 🥲🫶🏻

He first got involved with the QMU as a freshers’ helper (see last slide) and he of course loved it here so much that he moved his way to the top! From a CSR to the hard-working president we all know… and some love 😉!

Archie, as our President you’ve overseen some great and exiting changes here at the QMU, and we’re so thankful to have had you here! You will be so missed and we wish you the best of luck with your future endeavours 🕺

The QMU is deeply concerned by the UK Supreme Court’s recent ruling narrowing the legal definition of “woman,” which undermines protections for trans women under the Equality Act. At a time of growing hostility toward trans and non-binary people, we want to reaffirm our unwavering support: the QMU remains a safe space, and we stand in solidarity with our trans community—now and always.
