The goals of the parent council are to enrich the learning experience of our children and support the families and teachers who make OLA such a great place

What is a Parent Council? The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 has changed the arrangements for parental representation in all schools. Since August 2007, all parents/carers are automatically members of the Parent Forum for their school and they have a right to establish a Parent Council to represent them. Parent Forum

👥 The next Parent Council meeting will take place on Tuesday 3rd March 2026 at 7pm at OLA Primary School.

🌞 This meeting will focus in particular on planning our proposed Summer Fair for Saturday 30th May 2026.

💪To run an event of this scale, we will need at least 15–20 adult volunteers, so we are encouraging as many parents and carers as possible to come along, share ideas, and help us shape what the day could look like. If we do not have enough volunteers overall we will not be able to run an event for the children.

‼️Your support is absolutely essential to making the Summer Fair possible, and we would be delighted to see you there!

🌟 First Parent Council Meeting of 2026! 🌟
Parents & carers — we’d love to see you at our first Parent Council meeting of the year next Tuesday at 7pm on Zoom.
Your voice genuinely matters, and having more parents involved makes a huge difference to what we can achieve together.
The Parent Council helps to:
- Support the work of the school
- Gather and represent parents’ views to the Head Teacher, the local authority and HMIE
- Strengthen links between families, pupils, the school and the wider community
- Lead and support fundraising
- Involvement in the appointment of senior school staff
If you’d like to come along, just drop us an email at [email protected] and we’ll send the Zoom link.
Let’s make 2026 the year more voices are heard and more parents get involved.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to and bought tickets for our Christmas Hamper Raffle; because of your generosity we had 3 winners per class and raised an incredible £250 for the school 🌟
