Thank you all so much for making this gym what it is

What a day celebrating our new space and our community

To see people enjoy fitness so much and come together makes me so proud

You all smashed it !! The workouts I mean not the pizza 😁😆🫶🏻

13 years ago I had my last alcoholic drink

Without that decision I wouldn’t have my gym, I wouldn’t have helped all the people I have through coaching, I wouldn’t have my health, I wouldn’t have achieved any of the things I have in the last 13 years but above all else I wouldn’t have made my Dad proud who only saw me sober for 2 months before he passed or the love and respect from everyone else in my life

I self medicated my problems through alcohol and ended up with an alcohol problem which was utterly ruining my life - I am so grateful every day for making that hard decision because I wanted a better life and to be a better person

Thank you to everyone in my life who supports me especially those who have been there since before I stopped drinking and didn’t give up on me

You don’t need to be drinking every day or in the morning for booze to be destroying your health , mental health or just holding you back from a better life - my first step was being honest with those close to me and asking for help 🙏🏼

You can do hard things, and doing hard things gets you through hard times 🖤

I lost my Dad at 2 months sober from alcohol and I was not prepared for that and I honestly did not know how I was gonna get through it. At that point I was a pretty weak person who had always dealt with any problem through drinking

Then I found the gym - and everything changed

Training hard and being dedicated to a good diet and not drinking got me through that year. It made me a better person, a better son to my dad who was looking down on me and to my mum, a better friend and brother.

I was happy for once in my life because I decided to fight for a better life instead of taking the easy option.

I done an Ironman to show people you can do anything and you can overcome. Whether it’s a 5km or an Ironman or just going to the gym instead of putting it off again, let your training make you a stronger person for life 💪🏼

Alex ! What an unbelievable debut on the comp floor - 19th out of over 60 athletes in the wood category and an EVENT win on the 3RM Thruster 🤩💪🏼🙌🏼🏋🏻‍♂️

Alex had been doing online coaching for a while and hadn’t even thought about competing whilst she was only dropping into classes now and then, but as she started upping the classes and the opportunity came she went for it, right out her comfort zone and I’m so glad she did 🙂🙏🏼

We only had a couple months to prepare things like kipping and skipping as some of these things Alex had never done before, but the strength and fitness was there and it showed on comp day, smashing all the workouts 🙌🏼💪🏼

Absolute legend Alex, so so proud of you and your effort to prepare for and the day of the comp with everything right down to nutrition, crushed it 🔥

You get one shot at life

Moving, eating well, feeling fit and strong is what makes me feel happiest and mentally at my strongest.

I want to feel as good and able as I can for as long as I can - this is why I live how I live

If you scroll to the end you will see where I was before I found a sober life and training - I was absolutely fu***ng miserable

I’ve achieved some pretty cool things, met many amazing people and experienced the most amazing things since, to me this is living and it’s a never ending pursuit to constantly improve ❤️

Compete with wee sis ! ✅🫶🏻💙🖤

Had a great day at throwing it down with my amazing sister 😁

An awesome moment for us as a family and our dad would be absolutely chuffed to bits that we do this fitness thing together !

Never thought when you asked for PT in 2019 we would end up here 🙌🏼

Fair play to Rachel she done Rainhill two weeks ago and Turf Games last week - No chance I could compete today if that was me 🤣 Legend! You carried me on the burpees!

Thanks as always to Team DC for amazing support especially through the 12 minute max run 🥵🙏🏼 Live you guys ❤️

What a thing fitness is ! 🙂💪🏼🙌🏼💙

Adele - I am SO proud of you for not only your amazing performance at Rainhill finishing 14th of 60 athletes but the effort and commitment you showed to your training leading up to the competition 💪🏼🤩

In at 6am getting it done, open gym sessions practicing skills, cardio club sessions, working on the quality of your diet. You absolutely deserved to have such a good day and to see you thriving on the comp floor having fun and max out effort was AMAZING !! Topping it off with an event win 🔥

You started classes with no experience at all and you’ve came so so far. Inspiring for anyone thinking about starting classes , who knows where it will take you. Legend Adele , well done again 🙌🏼🙏🏼💪🏼

I realised the other day in the space of a few weeks I hit
Hyrox PR 1:18
Sub 25 minute 5km
Sn**ch PR 88kg
Sn**ch Balance PR 100kg
OHS PR 105kg
Split Jerk PR 112.5kg
Power Clean PR 111kg

This is awesome and I’m giving myself a pat on the back! It’s been a very tough time personally I’m so happy I’ve managed to keep working hard as it ALWAYS helps

I’m always striving to be as fit AND as strong as I can be so looking back on these numbers I’m really happy 😊

I’m not getting any younger and running the gym has made me train less than I was a few years ago. We need to take the wins 🙌🏼

I love feeling strong, I love feeling fit - it’s my daily boost of happiness and mental strength

There’s been a lot of bad sessions and fails also let’s not forget that this is obviously the highlights - but even the sessions where physically I don’t feel good, mentally I’m better every time ❤️

Becky - I’ve been coaching people for more than 10 years. What you have achieved in the time you have been at Gym DC is one of the most amazing feats of dedication and commitment to self improvement I have ever coached - I could not be more proud of you.

The girl that came in to try out a class with literally zero experience in the gym / barbell / gymnastics to the athlete you are now and what we all saw at rainhill is just incredible

You have totally transformed your diet , body and health for the better and it’s not just happened you have worked SO hard for it.

I have watched you grow as a person and a friend to people in our community and an absolute inspiration to your daughter who loves watching her mum train and is picking up those habits also

You done amazing at Rainhill but that is just the cherry on top of all the progress you have made - thank you for being an awesome person to work with and all the hard work you put in. Legend ❤️💪🏼
