In a newsletter I issued in early 2025, I released my rage and despair about the state of the spirituality industry (and it very much is an industry, capitalising on both vulnerability and narcissism). It was filled with angry hag wisdom and truth telling, 'inspired' by the sponsored ads that pop up offering certificated Angelic Quantum Cord Cutting Reiki Ancestral Crystal Healing Floating Sound Bath Psychic Dog Whispering Cacao Ceremonialist Warrior Shaman Empath Goddess online courses. (And I can't even begin to talk of the current fashion of cosplayers in costumes claiming themselves as 'witches' because my feisty fire will turn it to ashes.🔥)

Can you imagine what the true healers of our past would think of this shallow, fast food equivalent of 'healing'? How we have forgotten our history, how we disrespect our ancestors, ourselves and the work. Knowledge of all esoteric practices takes time, effort, energy, dedication and patience - it is lifelong. And now it's reduced to a few hours or clicks.

No certificate is going to give you wisdom. I don't care how many certificates or subjects are racked up, it doesn't mean there is knowledge of anything. I know, I have the certificates. These do not matter. It's the 30+ years of practice that does
There will never be enough hours in my life to satisfy my hunger for the magic and wisdom of the world. There will never be enough hours in your life and my life to learn it.

But let me see your joy for learning. Let me understand your commitment. Let me feel the fire in you for discovery. Let me hear your passion for your subject.

Take your time. Savour. Enjoy. Stay hungry.

First Rose of the year.

Are you a perfectionist? I ask because I'm very particular about my offerings and while I was taking this photo, I thought it looked lovely. Until I went to upload it and then I was annoyed. Can you guess why?

Good morning! Sometimes we have to cut things away. This is Lavender from a very leggy plant that's been in the medicine garden for some time but it's reached the end of its time. More woody than leafy, I've trimmed the new leaves off to dry and make smudge, and took some cuttings to propagate before digging it out.

Sometimes it's hard to let some things go that have been in your life a while. They may even have become the habits of your life. But - just like this Lavender - there is always an opportunity to create new growth from old experiences that have become outworn and served their purpose.
