Sunday gratitude

This week I am grateful for:

✨the delicious apples on my tree. I stewed a couple of them with cinnamon and had the apple with my Greek yoghurt this morning😋

✨A day out in Glasgow. While it may not be looking its best currently, it still has much to offer. We started with a walking tour with Glasgow Music City Tours - along Glasgow’s music mile. Did you know that Glasgow was the first UK city to be designated as a UNESCO music city? We learned about the city’s music heritage, including the Empire Theatre where the likes of Danny Kaye and Judy Garland performed, the Pavilion Theatre, the Apollo ( I have many memories of seeing gigs there), the sadly burned down ABC which could hold 1000 people 7 days week. No wonder Sauchiehall Street has suffered following its demise. Finishing at a busy King Tuts.

In the evening we went to Citizens Theatre to see the brilliant 1984 at the refurbished theatre. An excellent production.Scarily it’s still very relevant today.

✨Getting ready for the change of seasonas we move into September

Sunday gratitude

This week I am grateful for:

✨Two days Edinburgh Festival Fringe Always grateful that it is on my doorstep in August and I can zip through on the train. Saw a fantastic selection of ballet, flamenco, cosmology, musical theatre and comedy. Jason Byrne last night was SO funny😂

✨I had to mention Dolly Parton. Universally loved, talented and generous. Someone said that she proved that you can be both ambitious and kind.

✨ My sweet peas continue to flower, they look beautiful and the smell is delicious. I am savouring them while they last.

Stopped off at Culross Palace on the way home from Fife. Never been before and found it very interesting. It was a bustling port in the 17th Century, mined coal, panned sky and made girdles for oatcakes. The place was built by George Bruce, a wealthy merchant.
