Do you need Mental Health First Aid training ?
You know the rules for physical first aid — ratios, certificate dates, EFAW vs FAW.
Mental health is murkier: no fixed ratio, no expiry date, easy to leave off the list.
There's no legal minimum number of Mental Health First Aiders. But you must assess risks to employee health, and HSE is explicit that this includes stress, not just physical hazards.
Trained Mental Health First Aiders are the clearest way to show you're managing that risk.
The scale is hard to ignore. HSE's latest figures show around 964,000 UK workers suffered stress, depression or anxiety caused or worsened by work in 2024/25 — over half of all working days lost to ill health that year. That touches offices, care settings, nurseries and trades alike, not just high-pressure industries.
Mental Health First Aid isn't therapy. It teaches staff to spot early warning signs, start a supportive conversation, and know when to point a colleague towards professional help.
We offer three levels: Mental Health Awareness for whole teams, Mental Health First Aid for designated responders, and Supervision for managers running the programme.
Physical first aid became standard once the risks were visible. Mental health is heading the same way — train now, before it's mandatory.
