โจ๐ง๐ด Feliz Dรญa de la Madre Boliviana ๐ง๐ดโจ๏ธ
Today is Motherโs Day in Bolivia. It's always celebrated on the 27th May every year (I'm late...but if we're going by Bolivian time, technically it's still today!)
Here in the UK, Motherโs Day changes each year because it falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent, but in Bolivia the date stays the same (it's so much easier to remember that way!)
My lovely friend Maribel is visiting us just now, and she took me out for hot chocolate and a scone to celebrate 'Dรญa de la Madre'. It was so nice to celebrate a Bolivian special day with my Bolivian friend, while in Scotland, chatting in Spanish in a little tea room in Eaglesham ๐ง๐ด ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ โ๏ธ
It was a great reminder that all around the world we often celebrate similar traditions, like Motherโs Day, but sometimes on different dates and in different ways.
In our Spanish classes, children donโt just learn the language - they also learn about culture, traditions, and celebrations in Spanish-speaking countries too. ๐โจ
Wishing a very happy Motherโs Day to all my mum friends in Bolivia.
ยกFeliz Dรญa de la Madre! ๐๐ง๐ด

Today was a very different Monday - usually I teach Spanish classes from 9.30am - 9.30pm to babies & toddlers, primary & secondary age children, and beginners, intermediate and advanced level adult groups....but today was a holiday so I went on a trip with my friend, son and niece .... but can you guess where we went?
ยฟNecesitas una pista? Do you need a clue? Here are some Spanish words from today (and some photos) - some of them might help you guess where we spent the afternoon:
๐ฆ una jirafa - a giraffe
๐ฆ un leรณn - a lion
๐ un parque - a park
๐ฆ un helado - an ice cream
๐ un paseo โ a trip
๐ถ๏ธ unas gafas de sol - sunglasses
๐ un sombrero โ a hat
โ๏ธ hace sol โ itโs sunny
ยฟAdรณnde fuimos hoy?
Where did we go today? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
We had sunshine, animals, ice cream and Isaac and Zara had lots of fun in the playpark (and got covered in sand!) โ๏ธ๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ชฃ
ยฟY tรบ? What did you do on your holiday Monday?
Let me know in the comments - bonus points if you can use any Spanish words! ๐ช๐ธ๐

I'm thrilled to have written a chapter for ' I AM A WOMAN WHO - VISIBILITY EDITION'. It was published yesterday and today it hit #1 in the Amazon self-employment chart ๐ฅณ
It was a real privilege to share my business journey in my chapter - from how and why I started Estrellas Brillantes, almost 9 years ago, to the challenges I've faced along the way, and how I've tried to turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones - to learn, grow, adapt, and thrive, so that all my learners...from babies and toddlers, all the way up to retirees ... can learn Spanish and grow in confidence in a fun, welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment.
This fifth book in the 'I Am A Woman Who' series brings together a powerful collection of stories from women in business who have chosen visibility, on their terms.
From finding their voice to stepping onto stages, speaking up in rooms and sharing their stories, each chapter offers a glimpse into the moments that changed everything.
A huge thank you to Sandra Garlick for bringing all of us together to share our stories, and for making this book a reality.
