The Glasgow Nanny Hello and welcome to The Glasgow Nanny.

I run my business because I know how quickly childhood changes. And yet sometimes I need reminding of that in my own family too.

Over the last eight weeks, I have really slowed down. I’ve been able to soak up all of the special moments with my girls (and all the hard parenting moments too) but sometimes with the hustle and bustle and busy season that motherhood is we miss the moments that matter the most.

Playing in the pool with the girls, teaching Emily how to swim in the big pool and how to use a mask and snorkel. Getting my hair wet in the pool and racing with Jessica across the pool. These are the memories that are going to stick with us from this holiday.

When life feels too busy, take a breath and play with your babies. I promise you will feel better for it 🩷

I accidentally took the whole summer off… and I think I actually needed it more than I realised.

I stopped posting on here when the schools broke up so I could be more present with my girls, my intention was to post updates of our summer and share what we were getting up to. I took the photos and videos but they stayed in my camera roll.

We had a great time in Spain then Islay then it was time for the schools to go back and my body had different ideas to coming back to work. A dreadful kidney infection which took 3 rounds of antibiotics to clear and an allergic reaction which is still currently flaring up around my eyes.

But I’m finding my feet again.

So Hi, I’m Steph, mum of two and Nanny of 20 years.
And apparently back on Instagram.

How was your summer?

These last two weeks I took some time off, off work, off socials and off my phone to be more present with the girls and nick on holiday.

What happened… I made the most amazing memories with my family. Emily learnt how to swim, Jessica drove a boat and we spent time being present and living in the moment. And it was amazing.

Work and social media can wait, childhood can’t.

One of the reasons you won’t find me sharing endless sleep tips, feeding schedules or “magic fixes” on social media is because families deserve better than generic advice.

The internet is full of information. Unfortunately, it’s also full of contradictory information.

One post tells you to wake your baby from every nap. The next tells you never to wake a sleeping baby. One expert says feed on a schedule, another says feed on demand. Before long, parents are left feeling overwhelmed, confused and wondering if they’re getting it wrong.

The truth is, there is rarely one right answer.

Every baby is different. Every child is different. Every family is different.

The support I provide through The Glasgow Nanny isn’t based on what worked for somebody else’s baby on the internet. It’s based on getting to know you, your child, your family dynamics, your parenting values, your routines, your challenges and your goals.

Whether we’re discussing sleep, infant feeding or parenting support, I take the time to understand the bigger picture before making recommendations.

You’re not paying for a checklist, a generic routine or advice that might work.

You’re investing in a bespoke service designed specifically for your family.

Because the best support isn’t about finding the answer that works for everyone.

It’s about finding the answer that works for you.

If I could sit beside the little girl in these photos, I wouldn’t tell her that life will always be easy. Because it won’t.

I would tell her that there will be moments that test her, moments that make her question herself, and moments that break her heart. But I’d also tell her that every one of those experiences will shape the person she becomes.

One day, she’ll become a mummy herself and realise that the greatest privilege in life is being someone’s safe place.

She’ll spend her days supporting exhausted parents, reassuring anxious mums, celebrating tiny victories, and reminding families that they are doing better than they think they are.

She won’t have all the answers, but she’ll never stop learning, training to be the best she can be for the parents she supports. She’ll lead with kindness, compassion and evidence-based support, while always remembering what it feels like to simply need someone to listen.

Looking back, I’m grateful for every lesson, every challenge and every person who believed in me.

Because they helped create The Glasgow Nanny, a safe space where families come exactly as they are and know they’ll be met without judgement.

And to that little girl…

You did it.

And I am so proud of you. 🤍

If you’re reading this and you’re in the middle of a hard season of parenthood, I hope you know this too: you don’t have to do it alone.
