We're incredibly proud to be coming home from the JKS World Championships in Brazil with some fantastic results for all three of us.

A huge thank you to everyone at JKS Scotland Karate who has been part of the preparation for this Championships, and who made Brazil such a memorable experience.

International trips like this really do become a team effort. From the coaches and teammates preparing together beforehand, to the support, encouragement and laughs that get everyone through some very long competition days - we're grateful to have shared it with such a great group of people.

A special thank you too for the way everyone looked out for Ethan during his first international competition. The whole team rallied around him, and showed why JKS Scotland are the best karate family there is ❤

The journey to black belt starts long before you think...

At Shobu Kai, we begin the hard training for black belt early.

Not at 1st kyu.

Not 6 months before the exam.

From brown belt.

Nearly 12 months before any discussions of exams even take place.

18 months before an exam even gets sat.

Every training, every discussion of progress points to that goal.

That's how much work and preparation it takes to reach the top standard of a JKS black belt.

And we guide you every step of the way.

With Dan grading approaching, the students have been so focused. Determined. And gearing up for success.

1 week to go! 💪

This time next week, we'll be boarding a plane with our 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 team to travel to Brazil for the World Championships 🇧🇷

These trips are always a highlight of our karate year. There's nothing like walking out in the opening ceremony with our team, waving our flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 energy is buzzing, everyone excited for the days ahead of competing and supporting each other to be the best we can be.

For us, this year has been made even more special, with our own boy being selected to represent team Scotland 🥰 we get to take on this challenge together.

The work doesn't stop yet though.

One last push, an academy to lead, and a tonne of cases to pack.
