Approach play strategy during an on-course lesson.
98y to a front flag only 4y on, with a rise up to the green. Playing into a fairly strong wind.
To avoid risk of coming up short I wanted the ball to finish 5y past the flag. Adjusting for the wind I asked for to play for a 110y shot. Executed very well, finishing 6y past.
It’s easy to get cute with front flags and come up short, especially into the wind. Give yourself a good enough margin for error to avoid any unforced errors.
Reach out if you need help with your approach strategy.

In-person and online coaching.
A key feature of development is more regular feedback in smaller manageable chunks. Using the follow up session, I am able to see exactly what the player is working on, if he’s implementing the changes as required or needs additional feedback. Here he has executed the task perfectly.
If you’re committed to improving your game, this extra step is a game changer, either in addition to in-person feedback or online only.

Setup correctly around the greens!
Most times I see someone struggle with chipping around the greens, their setup is a key factor leading to poor contact.
Typically this is from weight distribution on their right side trying to encourage the ball in the air by scooping. Instead, make sure your weight is favouring your left side, promoting better contact and allowing the loft of the club to do its job.

Discussion during a group putting session on how to deal with pressure when expectation on holing out becomes higher.
While there’s plenty of drills to practice technique, one thing often overlooked is becoming really good at the things within your control - one of which being a reliable pre-shot routine.
If you don’t have a pre-shot routine, work on developing one to deal with managing pressure and expectation. If you need help with putting, reach out to get started in-person at Cawder or online via .
Love seeing the changes from during the time working together.
From the initial session with very inconsistent contact and a weak slice to now with excellent contact and a powerful draw.
Nice message today of him achieving his longest drive yet at 291 yards, something that would not have seemed possible a year ago.
Consistent work, creating good habits and producing results.
Simple pre-shot swing path rehearsal.
Especially useful for players who get excessively out-to-in, predominantly hitting weak slices.
Practice to perform on the course.
Practice is not just about hitting balls over and over, especially with the same club. After a check on the swing we moved to more performance work by creating on-course scenarios.

Standard pitch shot.
So many players setup too far away from the ball with their hands low then take the club way inside on the backswing. For better pitching:
Stand closer to the ball.
Hands higher at address.
Clubhead in line or outside of the hands.
Really simple but effective action here.
