Mental Health Awareness Week (10th-16th May) There are so many stigmas associated with mental health and these stigmas often act as a barrier which stop people speaking out or asking for support. Everyone has mental health and mental health and well-being is a continuum, it is not fixed. Teaching this to young people is imperative and vital to their well-being as they grow. 🪴

This week (10-16th) is Mental Health Awareness week. Mental health and well-being is vital all year round especially after the challenging time everyone has faced over the past year. Our young people have faced adversities and challenges which are unprecedented and I never cease to be amazed and humbled at their resilience. It is so important to not only be aware of their mental health but also to ensure they know they have people to listen to them and support them.

Good Morning! We are back with our daily writing tasks! Today I want you to look up a map and pick a country you have never been to but would like to visit. I would like you to do some research on your country. What’s it’s favourite food? What does their flag look like? What’s the population? Put this information into a poster or leaflet or even write me a story about visiting this country. Enjoy your daily task! ✍️📚

I looked at the calendar today and couldn’t quite believe it’s March in one week! Its been a strange and challenging year for us all, especially our young people who are trying to navigate learning and achieving academic success whilst also managing their own well-being in the midst of the pandemic. I fully believe however that their amazing resilience will shine through for a much better and brighter future. 🥰📚✍️

Good Morning! Today’s task is thinking about all the things we are grateful and thankful for. Gratitude is one of the greatest tools to improve mental health and well-being and by practicing mindfulness and gratitude each day, even the smallest things you are thankful for can greatly improve your wellbeing. During this pandemic it’s easy to focus on all the things we don’t have (both young people and adults) but taking a few moments to really think what you are thankful for can really make a massive difference to your day. Write them down in a poster, a poem or even a daily journal. Enjoy your daily task and stay positive! Things will improve 🥰

With today’s announcement that home learning will continue for many students will continue to upload writing tasks and the website has loads of free resources for all ages. All requests are also welcome, so if you or someone you know is looking for resources please let me know. With many senior students working towards national qualifications too I have been thinking of recording and uploading some close reading and literature PowerPoints with commentary. Please let me know if this is something that would be of assistance. This pandemic will end eventually and I take my hat off to the amazing resilience of both young people and their parents and carers. ♥️
