We’re heading in to week 6 of the 8-week reconnection themed classes ✨

Last week we focused on the chest and shoulders, now we’re moving on to the arms 💪🏼

We’ll move to promote strength in the arms but will also move through some feel-good stretches. Each week has elements of the previous weeks too so we’ll be giving our chest and shoulders some attention too!

This week we’re moving on to the second half of the 8-week reconnection themed classes ✨

The past 4 weeks we have mostly been focusing on the lower half of the body, tomorrow we start focusing on the upper half of the body and we’ll be starting with the chest and shoulders!

We’ll be moving in some funky ways to try and access areas of the chest that need some love, as well as promoting strength in the chest and shoulders! This class will include a type of movement called “spinal waves” which I discovered from and I’m super excited to share it with you 🤩

Life has been quite busy and stressful for me lately and I haven’t been prioritising movement as much as I would like to.

I often find momentum is great when it comes to moving, whether that’s stepping on your mat, going to the gym or however else you like to exercise. When the momentum ends, it can be a bit hard to get yourself back to it. It can then be easy for your brain to become a bit anxious of something it was no so long ago, quite used to. Step on my yoga mat? Hmm not sure! Go to the gym? Well, I don’t know about that…

It can also be hard to move your body when there’s so many options out there that can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. There’s also A LOT of conflicting advice. Lift weight, no do callisthenics, no swim, no run, you should get 20,000 steps in a day, running is bad for you, ahhhh!

I’m a big advocate of moving in any way that makes you feel good in your body and a way that you enjoy. Whether that’s dancing, practicing yoga, running, swimming, climbing. As long as you’re moving, you’re doing something pretty great.

So next week I’m challenging myself to 7 days of movement to help me get out of my funk. I’ll be sharing how I’m moving every day and any thoughts and feelings that arise from it. If you’re feeling the same as me right now or would like a challenge, join me and let’s help each other along. I’d love to see how you’re moving your body!!!

For next week I’m thinking yoga, weights in the gym, bouldering and a walk 🤸🏼‍♂️

We’re heading in to week 4 of our 8-week reconnection themed classes ✨

Last week we focused on the hips, now we’re moving on to the core 🥑

Did you know your core is made up of more than just the abs? I recently completed a core workshop with , where we looked at all the components that make up the core.

I’ll be weaving this new knowledge in to the class where we’ll be thinking about reflexive core strength and challenging our stability, mobility and coordination!

We’re heading in to week 3 of our 8-week reconnection themed classes ✨

In the first class, we focused on our feet and challenged our brains with some funky movement. In the second class, we focused on our legs and moved to promote strength.

Next Tuesday we will focus on our hips and will combine the things we’ve been looking at so far - strength and mobility. 💥〰️

I joined Vinyasa Flow class this week (every Wednesday at 6pm) and she focused on the hips too. I’ve been super inspired so very excited to lead you through a class!

For the next eight weeks, the theme for my weekly Yoga Inspired Movement class at Merchant City Yoga is reconnection. Each week we will focus on a different part of the body in order to connect or reconnect with it again.

Next week (Tuesday 10th), we will start from the ground up and focus on the feet.

So excited to get started!! 🎉
