Read Tracy Morse, Head of the Centre for Sustainable Development, as she shares her SDG Story:

β€œWhen it comes to my passion is and ensuring that we are both protecting the environment, and that it is not a source of disease for those who live in it! 🌎

In Malawi we are working in partnership with local communities and local government to tackle the challenge of waste disposal in informal areas. As researchers that means getting our hands dirty to understand what waste is there, where it comes from, what risk it may cause to the environment and the surrounding population, and most importantly how we can reduce it! πŸ™Œβœ¨

In just this small project we work on SDG 3 (Good health and wellbeing), SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation), SDG 11 (sustainable communities and cities), SDG 12 (responsible production and consumption) and of course SDG 17 (partnerships for goals).”

Today we celebrate the Un International day of zero waste!

The β€˜Zero waste’ philosophy is based on the idea of managing materials in ways that preserve value, reduce environmental impact, and conserve natural resources.

It seeks to ensure that products can be repaired, reused, or recycled back into nature or the marketplace.
