An independent school at the forefront of learning and teaching in Scotland for children aged 3-18.

An independent school at the forefront of learning and teaching in Scotland. In the 17th century George and Thomas Hutcheson, merchants in Glasgow, founded the school which still bears their name. Throughout its history Hutchesons' Grammar School has always been a proud champion of academic excellence - and an independent school which is open to intelligent children from any background.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award continues to be a valued part of life at Hutchesons’, with both current pupils and former pupils achieving success through the programme. 💙

The 1957 group recently hosted their Primary Summer Discos. 🪩

The discos were a huge success with many pupils enjoying the dance moves of the classic “Saturday Night” led by our amazing S6 helpers. 🕺

Mr Rhodes, Director of Performing Arts, was a success on the DJ decks, with calls to return at next year’s discos. 🎶

Thank you to all our staff and parent volunteers who supported these wonderful events for our pupils.✨

A group of Hutchie pupils who are studying Higher and Advanced Higher Modern Languages gained an insight into the work of simultaneous interpreters. 🗣️

They attended the annual Multilingual Debate at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. The debate was conducted in five languages: French, German, Spanish, English and British Sign Language (BSL) and translated into Polish and Italian. 🌍

It was an excellent opportunity for our pupils to see interpretation skills in action at a live event and to be part of a topical debate through the medium of different languages. 💬

What a week! 💫🛶

Our Primary 7 pupils returned from Newlands Adventure Centre with plenty of stories to tell after a fantastic week of adventure in the Lake District. From climbing Catbells and gorge walking to kayaking, raft building and bushcraft, pupils embraced every challenge. 🌳

Alongside the outdoor adventures, friendships strengthened, confidence grew, birthday celebrations were had (with plenty of cake!), and memories that will last a lifetime. A wonderful milestone in their final chapter of Primary School.⛺

June marks the final Archive Photo of the Month for the 2025 - 2026 school session.

This month, we reflect on the long-standing tradition of awarding Dux medals. Among early recipients was Margaret Davison (Dux, 1920), whose story highlights both academic excellence and the lifelong paths followed by former pupils.

Our P7 pupils took part in an exciting Aerospace Engineering Challenge during their STEM Transition Day at the secondary school. ⚙️

Working with Mrs Munro (Technology) and Mrs Anderson (Maths), they designed and built prototype aeroplanes and a motorised transporter, putting their creativity, problem-solving and engineering skills to the test. 💡

Every team successfully produced working prototypes, and staff were impressed by the creativity and innovation on display. 👏

Congratulations to the winning team: Rajvir, Reena, Ashley, Hamish, Zachary and Zakariyya! 🏆

A fantastic day developing STEM skills and inspiring future engineers. 🌟

Our 1957 Group hosted the 5th Annual Hutchie Golf Day on Friday 15 May at Whitecraigs Golf Club. 🏌️‍♂️⛳

Now a firm fixture in the school sporting calendar, Hutchie parents, former pupils, teachers and friends of the school enjoyed an afternoon of golf and socialising, with superb catering from the Whitecraigs team. All funds raised go towards 1957 Group initiatives that benefit the school community. 🤝

Thank you to Corum Property (title sponsor), as well as Diona Construction, Etellect Ltd, and The Caribbean Eye Institute for their generous sponsorship and to all who supported this event. 🎉

Thanks also to Whitecraigs Golf Club and David Orr Golf for your collaboration right from the very beginning, five years ago.💙
