Hi hope you’re all well and looking forward to the year ahead. It’s been a hard end to the year this year as I’ve had to take the decision to pause my in person classes at the studio. Both my mum and dad have dementia and since October their health has taken a turn for the worse. Dad with a fall, resulting in a broken hip, finding out he needed a pacemaker and mum very ill too. During these last few months I’ve also been quite ill and as the main carer for mum and dad I decided that putting the studio classes on hold right now was the best way forward. The good news is though that I’ve got my online classes due to be released in the early New Year so hopefully these will keep you going until I see how things go with my mum and dad. Thank you so much to all those who attended classes and one-to-one training with me in ‘24 and wishing you all health and happiness for 2025. Stay safe and have a wonderful New Year. Another wee cushion project off to its new home

As well as teaching I work with a few independent fashion designers and interior designers to create their products and garments. I really enjoy making so here’s a wee look at today’s cushion order ready to go to its new home. 😁

Many of you will remember that I was unavailable to teach here at my studio for the first 6 months of this year because I was teaching on the most recent Modern Artisan programme down at Dumfries House for The King's Foundation. The launch day for the collection is today and I hope you enjoy the film to let you see what it was all about. The Modern Artisan Third Edition

Working on the latest course syllabus. Pleased to say it’s coming along nicely 😁

It turns out it’s not always dressmaking and soft furnishings that people want to learn. Our most recent personalised training day was to teach how to make a pattern for a guitar case and then how to make a toile of the case with quilting, piping, zips and carry straps. This is an early prototype showing the quilting and piping stages With many more of the finishes still to be added. Looking forward to seeing the students finished work in the final fabric.
