Student Liliana wrote a piece for Thelma - “Pouncy, pouncy Thelma”. Such a lovely idea and especially sweet as these two (the student and cat) share a special wee bond!
I love how Liliana has structured the piece so you can hear the different movements of the cat; pouncy, to extra pouncy, to having a some chill time. So expressive and creative, thank you Liliana! Thelma approves 🐾
Next week we’re having a short break for the February holiday, but when we return there are some new Thursday slots up for grabs! Come learn some piano, and perhaps start writing your own music 🎹 🎶

Happy 2026 lovely people!
On the first day back of piano term I’m having some reminiscences over our Christmas student concert! Everyone played fabulously, and then we enjoyed bakes, mulled cider and getting to know one another. Thanks all for coming!
Of course I was so caught up in everything I forgot to take pictures! So here is the scant evidence the party happened…
This term I’ll be opening up some new piano slots on Saturdays from 11am - 1.30pm. These could be great for older learners too?! Send me a wee dm to snap them up 🌟

Hi all!
I’ve decided to split my working strands into two instagram accounts, one for music and one for yoga.
Although these passions are very twinned in my mind, I appreciate that the audience for both is often different.
Follow .alicee for yoga and movement shenanigans, or stay here for music!

Sending out a huge thanks to all those who attended Monday morning Slow Flow this term, and for this fantastic feedback.
I’m taking a step back from this class for some extra wintering time, and to reflect on how to proceed. We are a small group, but I’m amazed at the commitment you all have to your Monday morning practice; it’s been a joy to witness and support!
So for now I’ll leave you with beautiful glimmers of northern skies and polar clouds, which is where I wanted to write your heart-warming words. It really means so much. We all need glimmers at this time of year, whether in the skies or in the words of support from people to see us and appreciate what we do. Good luck in the dark season folks. Stay warm, well-rested and well-nourished, and offer your support where you can.

Restorative yoga returns tomorrow in from 4pm-5pm 🍁
I’m basing this week’s meditation on a visit to Sandaig Bay, an opportunity afforded to me by the lovely folk of who welcomed me to stay in their beautiful bothy nearby 💗
I’ll also read a fitting poem by Kathleen Jamie, and a passage from Gavin Maxwell’s infamous ‘Ring of Bright Water’ about his time living in this magical place!
A few of my words (for meditation) on the place:
“Nearing the water, the firs break to offer windows onto that famous outcrop of small islands that is your destination. They rise haphazardly from the water, collections of collections of rock, some just large enough to support a changing landscape of arresting stripes. A tumble of black, sea-stained rock gives way to those clothed in yellow and palest of blue lichens, and on to the rusts of bracken and shrubbery. The odd lonely tree bends at a wind-swept angle. A beach dazzles amidst the ruggedness with its soft flank of silver, and as you draw closer still you begin to make out other patterns on and underneath the clear water; reflections, rock, shingle, sand and seaweed.”

Slow Flow will be getting that bit slower, soothing and more restful.
For a chance to fully reset in a meditative practice, toodle along to Saturday restorative. This one is guaranteed to nurture your wintering spirit.
Indulge in an extra special Restorative session on December the 14th, where your practice will be bathed in lovely piano sounds 🎶… Delightful!
See you there ❄️✨

Yoga classes are back in Pollokshields Burgh Hall next week, on the edge of Maxwell Park.
I’m adding in a deliciously restful Restorative class on the last Sunday of every month. Not to be missed!
Here are all the details and class descriptions. So looking forward to seeing old and new students on the mat 😊🕺🏻
• Friday Slow Flow: 9.30am - 10.30am 🍃
Revive and reset for the weekend with this softly flowing yoga class. Transitioning from gentle breath work to a more traditional Vinyasa practice, poses are explored slowly and from many angles when required. Class warming might touch on some functional mobility and/or core work, while class closing draws things to a meditative focus, with downward regulation of the nervous system and Savasana (relaxation). New themes or peak poses are explored roughly every month, with subtle changes and varied transitions week to week. Leave feeling freer in mind and body from the pent up stresses and tensions life inevitably brings.
Class is playful and fun, and is suitable for beginners who can take themselves easily on and off the floor. All genders are welcome!
Sunday Restorative: last Sunday of the month, 4pm - 5pm 🍁
A soothing, restful practice using ample props to support the body, while gently moving the spine through its five available directions. The sequence is very slow, prompting muscular relaxation, and allowing the nervous system to shift into a parasympathetic state that supports rest, relaxation and digestion. Breathing is similarly affected, usually becoming slower, fuller and more soft. You will be guided through a nature-themed meditation while you adopt these grounding asanas, enhancing your capacity to enter Alpha and Theta mind-states (relaxed and imaginative!).
Suitable for all bodies and genders.
Equipment:
Students should bring yoga mats for all classes. Restorative requires an additional two blankets, and a yoga bolster or two pillows (as full and stable as possible!).
So looking forward to sharing this with you 🌊🏔️
Send any questions to [email protected]
Love, Alice

New class alert! 🔔
I’m excited to be starting a new Yoga and Movement class this Friday at 9.30am in Pollokshields Burgh Hall!
The hall is situated on the corner of Maxwell Park, so it’s an ideal location to enjoy yoga and also some time in nature before or afterwards ☺️🌸
Class description is as follows:
‘A softly flowing yoga class with added mobility and strength work, depending on the theme. Every 3-4 weeks we will approach a new theme or peak pose, with subtle changes and varied transitions week to week. Class will close in a meditative way, usually with downward regulation of the nervous system and Savasana (relaxation).’
It should be playful and a lot of fun, and is suitable for anyone with a little bit of yoga experience who can easily take themselves on and off the floor.
I’m really looking forward to meeting and moving with you there!
First class is free, hurrah! Bring your yoga mat and any props you find useful ☺️
