The Skills Barn

Great session with @squidinkstudio_ as we created our own ceramic tiles using clay and imprinting flowers, leaves and other lovely textures we could find in the garden 🪴🌿 They are soon to have some colour added to them in the next few sessions, and be a feature in our garden space 🌸

Huge thank you to The QTS Group for spending the morning with us and giving us a great insight into the careers available on the railways. We loved learning about different roles, trying on PPE and getting hands on with some STEM tasks. Such an informative and inspiring session for our young people at the The Skills Barn! 🚆👷🏼‍♀️🦺

Such a lovely morning down at The Skills Barn today! The sunshine brought the best vibes, as one group completed their arts and crafts workshop with Kat, the other group did percussion and singing with Rach! It was great to see the creativity and confidence flowing and see so many come out of their shell ☀️😊

We are working hard on restoring and transforming the outdoor area, planting new greenery and building so we can have our own tranquil place for the young people to hang out. We also worked on our hosting and performance skills, building on confidence week by week 🎤🪴

Some photos from the last week of our PIZZAKPC business development course where they launched their pizza pop-up shop! 🍕

Over the 6 week course, they have worked on branding, marketing, materials, the impact of where our food is sourced and the importance of growing projects within their community. Well done to our young workforce and we are looking forward to the next block ahead!

We were working last week at Kinning Park Complex on our PIZZA KPC programme. We started on branding and marketing activities where we thought about the look, feel, logo, and pricing of our restaurants. We then sourced local food and got a chance to bring our creations to life. 🍕✍️

Day 1 of inductions for the new 23/24 skills barn pupils! Yesterday they were introduced to their new space, health and safety induction, and took part in team building activities 📋👏🏻🚍

Gaining food skills and knowledge on nutrition with the team at Nutrition Scotland. They are part of our 249 Community and are a positive force to work alongside! 🍕🫑🍍

We had our celebration event to mark the end of our 3rd term here at The Skills Barn. We presented certificates, demonstrated the skills we have been developing and were able to reveal the tapestry we have been working on. Thank you to all our young people at Rutherglen High School!
