We were delighted to bring together Registered Social Landlords from across Scotland for our Beyond Compliance: Effective Damp & Mould Management in Practice event, delivered in partnership with Scottish Federation of Housing Associations - SFHA. Together, we explored the evolving legislative landscape, shared best practice, and discussed practical approaches to creating healthier homes and better outcomes for residents.

Building Scotland’s green skills workforce 🌱🏗️

We're delighted to be working with Department for Work and Pensions - DWP Scotland to deliver our new Sustainable Construction & Retrofit Skills Pilot, equipping jobseekers across Glasgow and Lanarkshire with the skills, qualifications, and industry connections needed to access opportunities in Scotland's growing green economy.

Participants will gain sector-specific training, including the NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit, alongside employability support and additional qualifications where appropriate.

We’re also working with employers to create opportunities for work experience, warm interviews and routes into employment.

Together, we’re helping build the skills and talent needed for Scotland’s growing green economy.

Two weeks in and already building for the future!

We recently launched our Future Builds Academy in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, giving young people the chance to get hands-on with sustainable construction and domestic retrofit.

Over the course of the 15-week programme, participants will develop practical skills and industry knowledge across topics including insulation, airtightness, retrofit best practice, and low-carbon technologies, while exploring the career opportunities supporting Scotland's transition to net zero. Learners are also working towards a recognised qualification, helping them take the next step into employment, further training, or apprenticeships within the construction sector.

Now in week two, our learners are already exploring everything from insulation and airtightness to low-carbon technologies, while getting an insight into the careers shaping Scotland’s future.

We’re excited to see their progress over the coming weeks!

Awaab’s Law is coming into force in October 2026. Is your organisation ready?

On 8 September, we’re hosting an event at our Apex Training Centre in BE-ST to help RSLs and housing professionals prepare for Scotland's new damp and mould regulations with expert guidance, practical workshops, networking, and training insights.

The session, supported by the Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA), will bring together sector professionals to:

🔹 Take part in interactive workshops covering risk assessment, investigations, repairs and compliance
🔹 Hear from sector experts and learn from peers facing similar challenges

With over 15 years' experience in the electrotechnical industry, Jon brings a wealth of practical knowledge to every course he delivers.

Having worked across testing and inspection, fault finding, solar PV, battery storage, electric vehicle charging and metering, Jon has developed expertise spanning both traditional electrical work and low carbon technologies. Since moving into education in 2017, he's been passionate about helping others build the skills and confidence to succeed in the industry.

For Jon, training is about more than gaining a qualification.
"Training empowers social mobility. It gives people the opportunity to improve their lives, whether that's starting a new career, entering the industry or taking the next step in their profession."
His advice to every learner?
