We’re pleased to be attending this year’s INCA AGM and EWI Industry Conference as event co-sponsors.
Bringing together contractors, system designers and associates from across the INCA network, the event is a key moment for discussing the future of external wall insulation.
Our own Steven Kiakowski, Director of Green Skills, will be hosting a panel session in the afternoon on EWI competency and training.
An event not to be missed for anyone involved in the external wall insulation industry.

Keeping people in construction is just as important as attracting them into it.
Construction has a huge opportunity ahead of it. But if we are serious about closing the skills gap, we have to focus not only on attracting people into the industry, but supporting them to stay, progress and succeed within it.
Recent insights from the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) highlight some major challenges the sector cannot afford to ignore:
• Around 29% of new entrants leave within 12 months
• Nearly half of apprentices do not complete
• Employers continue to raise concerns around “site readiness”
Unless we collectively address these challenges, the industry will continue to struggle to build the skilled, competent and confident workforce it needs for the future.
This is exactly why we built Apex Training the way we did.
For us, this reinforces the importance of:
➡️ Training leading to employment
➡️ More hands-on and practical learning
➡️ Greater employer involvement in design, delivery and evaluation
Employer-led. Practical. Flexible. Built around real industry environments and real progression opportunities.
We would welcome conversations with employers, partners and providers who share this ambition.

Learning that reflects the real world.
At Apex Training, we’re continuously evolving our learning environments to reflect the realities of the industries our customers are training to enter.
We know that where work experience is limited, employers place increasing importance on the quality and realism of training environments. This is why at our Basingstoke centre, we’ve recently installed life-like scaffolding, driven directly by employer feedback.
Our new scaffolding setup now allows learners to:
•Develop confidence working at height
•Apply health and safety procedures in a realistic setting
•Build practical skills that translate directly to site-based roles
•Gain exposure to the expectations of modern construction and retrofit projects
Listening to the industry is at the heart of what we do. By investing in facilities that simulate the realities of the job, we are strengthening outcomes for learners and employers alike, helping people step into the industry with the right skills, confidence, and understanding from day one.
