We had an amazing time in early May at the second Youth Design Sprint workshop hosted at the Mackintosh at the Willow Tea Rooms. Below is a summary for the CEASEFIRE! Project.

The CEASEFIRE! Peace Game Prototype Project is a 6-month knowledge exchange pilot project based at the University of Glasgow. Led by BCC Co-Investigator Dr. Rebecca Sutton, it brings together young people, artists, researchers, humanitarian and peacebuilding professionals, and game developers to co-create a 2D video game about how to negotiate a ceasefire. The game will serve as an innovative tool in peacebuilder training exercises, helping players to engage more effectively with law and with human emotions when negotiating. Supported by educational tech organization Education Evolved, ‘serious game’ designer Daisy Abbott from the Glasgow School of Art, graphic designer Sarah Ahmad (The Floating Designer), Adam Farquhar of PeaceRep/PA-X Database at the University of Edinburgh, and the UofG Games and Gaming Lab, the project hosted two youth ‘design sprints’ in April-May 2025. These sprints were attended by 13 Scotland-based youth who are interested in peacebuilding and gaming. The co-design sprints generated fresh and creative ideas about game mechanics and the world of the game—including whether it can be ‘won’—that will feed into the final prototype. For more info on the project or to play-test the prototype in your classroom or organization, please contact Dr. Rebecca Sutton ([email protected])

On Tuesday, Education Evolved co-led the first Youth Design Sprint with Daisy Abbott from The Glasgow School of Art and Rebecca Sutton from the University of Glasgow - bringing together Young Peace Gamers with skills in game design, peacebuilding, and content creation.

Working in teams, the Youth Peace Gamers:
🧭 Mapped emotional journeys
🎯 Linked learning goals to game mechanics
🔁 Designed gameplay loops to simulate ceasefire negotiations

This session set a powerful tone for the work ahead. We’re proud to be part of a process that puts young voices and creative collaboration at the heart of peace-focused game design.

🌍✨ Last week, Education Evolved took part in the Glasgow Future Fair. The day was filled with insightful discussions and creative activities focused on building a more sustainable future.

Our co-founder Sumeet enjoyed the Creative Climate Futures panel on progress over the past year and the Creativity and Climate session on using art for change. The Collaboration panel highlighted the power of working together, while the lino printing and community sketchbook workshops offered creative ways to engage with climate conversations.

We also brought along SEvEN, our sustainability-themed game, for attendees to play. It was amazing to see people engaging with climate challenges in a fun and interactive way!💡♻️
