Creating a Calmer, More Intentional Nursery Environment 🌿

Our team have been busy making some exciting changes to our nursery environment. We have been moving areas around, introducing more natural and open-ended resources, and creating a calmer, more inviting space for the children to explore.

We have also introduced a focused learning area, which will allow us to provide more purposeful experiences linked to the children’s interests, development and current learning.

By using natural resources and reducing visual clutter, we hope to create an environment that feels calm, cosy and homely, while still encouraging curiosity, creativity and independent learning.

Our environment is continually evolving, and we will continue to make changes based on what we observe the children enjoying, engaging with and needing. 🌱

πŸ§ΈπŸ“ Time for a Teddy Bears' Picnic! πŸ“πŸ§Έ

Our sensory tray invited the children to explore a Teddy Bears' Picnic theme using oats, cocoa powder, and a variety of real-life kitchen utensils.

Sensory play like this offers so many wonderful learning opportunities: ✨ Developing fine motor skills through scooping, pouring, stirring, and transferring materials. ✨ Encouraging imagination and storytelling as children create their own picnic adventures for the teddy bear. ✨ Supporting early maths skills through measuring, filling, emptying, and comparing quantities. ✨ Building language and communication as children describe textures, actions, and their play experiences. ✨ Providing a calming sensory experience that encourages focus, concentration, and exploration.

The children loved investigating the different textures and using the utensils to prepare their very own teddy bear picnic treats! πŸ§ΊπŸ»πŸ’›

πŸš‚ All aboard for imaginative play! πŸš‚

This week our children have enjoyed exploring our train track small world setup, using their creativity to build journeys, create stories, and solve problems together.

Through this activity, children are developing: ⭐ Communication and language skills as they talk about where the trains are going and share ideas with friends. ⭐ Problem-solving and critical thinking as they work out how the tracks connect and navigate obstacles. ⭐ Fine motor skills through manipulating the trains, tracks, and loose parts. ⭐ Understanding of the world by exploring transport, routes, and how communities are connected. ⭐ Imagination and creativity as they invent their own adventures and scenarios.

Small world play provides endless opportunities for learning through play, helping children make sense of the world around them while having lots of fun! πŸš‰βœ¨

β˜•πŸ’™ Father's Day Mug Decorating πŸ’™β˜•

Sometimes the simplest activities create the most meaningful memories.

Today, our children enjoyed decorating special mugs for Father's Day. Using colourful pens and their own creative ideas, they designed a unique gift for someone special.

This activity supported children's:
✨ Creativity and self-expression
✨ Fine motor skills and pencil control
✨ Concentration and focus
✨ Understanding of special family celebrations

Most importantly, it gave the children an opportunity to think about the important people in their lives and create a personalised keepsake filled with love.

We can't wait for these thoughtful gifts to be taken home and treasured for years to come. ❀️

πŸžπŸ¦‹ Exploring Mini Beasts Through Playdough! πŸ¦—πŸž

Today our children enjoyed a wonderful mini beast-themed playdough activity. As they rolled, squeezed, flattened and moulded the dough, they were developing the strength and coordination in their hands and fingers that will support future writing skills.

Using insects, numbered logs, rollers and books encouraged the children to count, compare, talk about different mini beasts and use their imaginations to create their own bug adventures. πŸ›

Most importantly, the children were learning through hands-on play whilst having lots of fun discovering the fascinating world of mini beasts! πŸ¦‹πŸ›πŸœπŸž
