Wow!🤩What a fantastic afternoon we had at our Colour Run! ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Thankfully, some cloud cover ⛅️ arrived at just the right time - and the children had so much fun - gradually becoming more colourful with every lap! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏼🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏿🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻
A huge thank you to the amazing Friends of Wyke Primary School for working so hard to set everything up and clear everything away afterwards. Your support is truly appreciated.

☀️🏊‍♀️ Our Year 6 children have been loving their weekly swimming lessons, especially in this glorious sunshine! 🌞

We’re so proud of the fantastic effort they’re all putting into improving their swimming skills, and a huge congratulations to those who have now learnt to swim – what an amazing achievement! 👏💙

Message from the Office regarding Friday's planned event. ☀️

Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the hot weather forecast, we have decided to bring the Grand Summer Raffle Draw forward to 3:30pm instead of 4:30pm on Friday 10th July 2026.
This will allow us to finish the afternoon’s activities a little earlier and help everyone avoid being outside for longer during one of the hottest parts of the day.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at the draw!

As the school year draws to an end, we will be collecting our reading books back in for the summer to be sorted ready for September. Please can we ask that you have a very good look at home, in bedrooms and school bags so that all of our books are returned. Every year, we lose hundreds of pounds worth of books where they go missing and never return. Our Friends work tirelessly to help us to fund lovely new books, alongside the points we earn from the Book Fair. Every single book is important.
Currently, lots of our newer graphic novels are missing in action so if you happen to find any, please send them back as soon as possible. Thank you!

Who's getting excited? 🌈
It's our Colour Run THIS FRIDAY!!!!
Every participant will receive a Colour Run T-shirt (to get as messy as you like!), sunglasses and a special medal – just look at how fantastic they are! 👕🕶️🏅
Please get your £6 entry fee AND your sponsorship money into the office tomorrow (Wednesday).
We can't wait to see our school filled with colour, laughter and lots of happy memories.

Heron class enjoyed a visit from Reverend Becca this morning as part of their transition to secondary school.
Reverend Becca led a spiritual "spacemaker" session in which she took the class through five different activities supporting them with techniques to find space to decompress and ground themselves should things become overwhelming.
It was a fabulous hour of relaxation, meditation and reflection and everyone came away feeling a sense of calm.
A big thank you to Reverend Becca for giving up her time to come and speak to us.

Welcome Year 6 to Gillingham School.
We are delighted that you are joining us for your Induction Day and can't wait to meet you.

The day is all about getting to know your new school, meeting new friends, finding your way around, and experiencing what life at Gillingham School is like. We know that starting secondary school is an exciting milestone, and today is designed to help you feel confident and ready for September.

Your Day
8:40am Arrival
You will be welcomed by staff and directed to the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH).
You will be registered and receive a name sticker showing your name, tutor group and teaching group. You'll have the chance to meet other students in your new year group and our friendly Year 12 students will be available throughout the day to help you find your way around school.

8:50–9:10am A Warm Welcome
We'll officially welcome you to Gillingham School before guiding you to your tutor room.

9:10–10:10am Tutor Time
Meet your tutor, get to know your tutor group and find out more about school life.

10:10–11:10am Period 2
You will be collected by your Period 2 teacher.
From this point onwards, you will spend the rest of the day in your teaching groups.

11:10–11:30am Break
At the end of break, you will be guided to MPH.

11:30–12:30pm Period 3

12:30–1:30pm Period 4

1:30–2:20pm Lunch
At the end of lunch, you will be guided to MPH.

2:20–3:20pm Period 5

End of the Day
We will say goodbye and make sure everyone knows where to catch their bus or where to meet their parent, guardian or carer.

We hope you have had a fantastic day and have enjoyed trying new activities, and making lots of new friends. Everyone at Gillingham School is looking forward to welcoming you into our school community. We can't wait to see you again when you start with us in September 2026.

The Summer Reading Challenge is on! Ruth from Gillingham Library came to tell us all about it in Thursday’s assembly. She showed us lots of lovely books that can be borrowed from the library as part of the challenge.
And remember: if your certificate is delivered to school in the Autumn Term, it will be presented in assembly along with a token for the book vending machine- added bonus! 📚 📚 📚
