Today, we honor Phil Mordey, a pillar of Kensho Dojo, as he steps into retirement.

Phil’s dedication, love for the dojo, and the friendships he’s built are woven into every corner of our practice.

Phil, you’ve been an inspiration, a mentor, and a true friend. We are forever grateful, and we hope you’ll still join us on the mat whenever you can.

Thank you, Phil, for everything, you will always have a home, at Kensho Dojo. Glad to hear your saving on shampoo too 😉🤭

And Welcome to the “KENSHO DOJO HALL OF FAME”

Some success stories are measured in medals. Others are measured in growth. Alex has been fortunate enough to achieve both.

Over the years, Alex has developed not only as a karateka, but as a person. Through dedication, consistency, and a willingness to challenge himself, he has transformed his approach to training, fitness, and wellbeing. The confidence he has built extends far beyond the dojo, influencing every aspect of his life.

His journey is a reminder that karate isn’t just about what you achieve on the tatami. It’s about the person you become along the way.

We’re incredibly proud of everything Alex has accomplished and excited to see where his journey takes him next.

We’re back with another Technique Tuesday.

This week we’re using resistance bands again to develop stronger stances, better body connection, and greater stability in kata. Sometimes the biggest improvements come from strengthening the foundations.

A fantastic day at the Scottish Open for Team SEKA. 🥋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who stepped onto the tatami. Medals are always a bonus, but the courage, determination, and sportsmanship shown throughout the day are what matter most.

Congratulations to all of our competitors on their achievements, and thank you to the coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who made the event possible.

On to the next one. 👊

We’re back with Technique Tuesday! 🥋

This week we’re working on pocket range drills, developing distance control, reactions, and composure under pressure. Sometimes the smallest movements make the biggest difference.

What do you focus on when training at close range?

Massive congratulations to the SEKA England Squad 🇬🇧🔥

A huge day at the Leeds Open with fighters from Kensho and Sono giving everything on the tatami. Proud of every competitor who stepped up, showed heart, discipline and true karate spirit. 🥋

Medals or not, every single athlete represented with courage and determination, and that matters just as much.

Keep pushing. Keep growing. The journey continues. 👊

For years, Marcus has been more than just a competitor or teammate within Kensho and SEKA. He has been a constant presence, someone who led with kindness, humility, and genuine care for the people around him. Whether in training, competition, or simply supporting others, his impact has always gone far beyond medals and performances.

The friendships, memories, and standards he helped build will stay part of this club long after he begins his next chapter. While we are proud of everything he achieved on the tatami, we are equally proud of the person he has become.

As Marcus now takes his next steps towards becoming a pilot, he leaves with the full support and respect of the Kensho family behind him. No matter where life takes him, he will always have a place here.

Thank you, Marcus.
