Todays activies have been about building and strengthening hand and finger muscles and to improve hand-eye coordination which helps to build concentration. These activities help our children to develop the essential fine motor control required for future tasks like writing, drawing, and using cutlery. It also encourages problem-solving, patience, and resilience when tasks become tricky.

Shrove Tuesday ! Our children did a great job doing their pancakes this morning! They were spreading their own chocolate onto their pancakes and choosing what fruit they would like to add on to their pancakes! They also tried some honey to see if they would like honey on also.

This week is children's mental health week, the theme is 'this is my place'. Doing activities based around mental health helps to foster resilience empathy and helps children to understand that all feelings are normal and ok. We did some yoga, which was great for teaching the children some breathing exercises, which can help when they are feeling negative to ground themselves, we also talked and drew about where we belong a lot of the children said their mammy and daddies houses and some also said nursery this was a lovely activity and helps remind the children that they are valued everywhere ๐Ÿ˜€

We have been doing some mark making this morning with tin foil, paint and cars this is fundamental to early childhood development, serving as the first step toward writing, communication, and cognitive growth. It builds essential fine and gross motor skills, fosters creativity, and enhances spatial awareness! Our children loved this activity this morning.

This afternoon we are having a game of giant dominoes, the children loved playing this and did really well matching the correct numbers! It was a great opportunity for our children to do some counting and matching as well as great talking between our children as they helped each other out!

Making our children independent is crucial for building their confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills, enabling them to navigate challenges. Fostering self-reliance from an early age boosts self-esteem, improves learning outcomes, and promotes emotional and cognitive growth. Independent children are better equipped to make decisions, handle failures, and develop essential life skills and a great way to build on communication.

Hi everyone, next week is National Storytelling Week ๐Ÿ“–

Created by Society for Storytelling, this fantastic annual event is a joyful celebration of the power of sharing stories. Stories teach us about the world; they allow us to step into someone elseโ€™s shoes and feel empathy; they help us to relax and escape and they can help develop essential literacy skills.

National Storytelling Week 2026 is a celebration of oral storytelling, reading and writing for pleasure. At a time when young peopleโ€™s writing and reading enjoyment levels are at their lowest, National Storytelling Week has never been more important.

We'd love each child to bring a book with them to nursery next week, clearly named please. We will read these together and bring lots of music and dance into the stories too. Many thanks!!

Our children helped to clean, feed and pet our guinea pig Victor this afternoon, they were so gentle with him! They talked about what foods they could give Victor and what they were putting in Victor's house to keep him nice and warm! Well done to all our children ๐Ÿ‘
