All Learning and Skills Learners welcome.

Come along to the library with us on 16th June, 9:30am. We will start from Interchange Centre.

We will leave the Interchange, listening to poetry at different stops along the way. The walk will end at the library for 10am and you will then be free to attend the library event - there are activities running, including 19 stalls in the main hall.

Afterwards we will arrange a walking bus back to Interchange Centre or you can make your way home if you prefer.

You can join us at the library if you wish.

As we count down to Refugee Week, this week’s theme is Read a Book, a simple act that can open our minds, challenge our thinking, and connect us to experiences beyond our own.

At Gateshead Learning and Skills, we believe learning brings people together and every page turned is a chance to build a more compassionate community.

This week, we’re inviting you to take just 10 minutes to read or listen to a story from a different perspective.
You can:

• read a book, poem, or article
• listen to a story or video - find audiobooks – Link in comments
• read in any language

Next week in our countdown to Refugee Week, we’re celebrating something special… food, culture, and the stories behind them! ❤️

We’re inviting Learning and Skills learners to come together in the first floor kitchen on Tuesday 19th May 12:15 – 1:30pm for a relaxed and friendly recipe swap. Whether it’s a cherished family dish, a traditional favourite, or something new you love to cook — we want to hear about it!

WALK & TALK with us on Monday 11 May at 10am

There is a particular magic to conversations that happen while walking. Walking in groups can be a wonderful way to make new friends, and walking side by side makes it easier to talk openly, listen with attention, and discover new perspectives. When we walk without an agenda or destination, we create space for conversations where real depth, insight and understanding can emerge.

Take your steps towards friendship and beauty in our group walking trip to Gateshead Riverside. Enjoy the fresh air, friendly chats and a café stop!
